I want live action with cartoon-looking deepfakes.

I'd prefer a mix of animated characters starring alongside live actors in the vein of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but the characters randomly alternate between animation and live action.

Yes! Sometimes sort of flickering on and off like there's a bad signal.

Agreed. Live action recast is the only way to go for that series.

    Either that, or shadow puppets.

Anyway, back on topic. I really hope Lando’s mother is an important part of this show. It would be an interesting relationship to explore.

This. I’ve been harping on this since the show was announced. And it’s partly why I want it to cover his earlier years - childhood, adolescence, etc - before he meets Han.

I don’t think Disney would be willing to pay for Harrison again.

Who really wants to see this series? Frankly, Donald Glover should be ashamed to show his face on set after his Solo performance. Can you imagine being given an opportunity to play Billy Dee Williams, not simply Lando, but Billy Dee, and to then do so as a sniveling, conniving, cowardly, emasculated dweeb? When I was a kid, and we "played" Star Wars among friends, I wanted to be Lando. Why? Because he was suave, cool, intense, and damn cunning! What Lando was reduced to in that movie was shuddering. As much as I appreciated Alden's take on Han, I found young Lando to be plain awful, and a discredit to the MAN, B.D.W.

As best I can tell I think this guy is purposefully posting bait in different parts of the forum. Or has the worst Star Wars opinions ever. Either or. :p

While I liked Glover's take on Lando in Solo, I did think it was generally pretty surface level and didn't have quite the same level of nuance as some of the other characters. That being said, I'm really looking forward to really giving him time and space and dig further into the role and give him fuller depth and complexity.

I'm 100% serious. Take the fanboy hats off. The character was in love with a DROID!!!!! In what universe does it make any sense whatsoever, that Lando Calrissian, as played by Billy Dee Williams, would have been in love....with a robot? It was a laughable emasculation of one of the franchise's great characters.

"Baiting" yeah okay, you do realize Star Wars as a franchise is literally circling the drain? The series are boring, and they seem incapable of ever producing a feature film again, and now Bob Iger's remaining hair is on fire on the 100s of millions Favreau and Kathleen have lost the company. My opinions, as a life long fan, are not alone. They continue to produce retcons, reinventions and recasts using legacy characters, which are not creatively within two football fields of their original portrayals, and fans are increasingly tuning out and filleting the creators. I have a passionate love for the OT, and I will not apologize when I see content that would be unrecognizable to that "universe." And worse, when it's not entertaining. That's why you won't find barely a criticism for Andor, or most of what Filoni has written himself (without Favreau).

I found it bizarre how LucasFilm went off the rails to force Ehrenreich to basically impersonate Harrison Ford, but Glover was allowed carte blanche to re-invent the character. Billy Dee himself was not pleased with how the "backstory" was written. Glover is a very nuanced actor, and while he is very artistically gifted, completely wrong choice to the play the part. His part in the film was comical, but the film was vapid, and was stripped of whatever soul it had to begin with. Every inch of it was neutered, as if the story wanted to go darker, raise the stakes, but was prevented to by its producers. The result is the most atypical, lousy villain in franchise history, one that was seemingly borrowed from a worthless Steven Seagal movie. The film was a disaster, and very poorly received, but yeah, let's make a series off that, great idea.

Do you need a friend? I do find it entertaining though to see how these people are getting on Favreau's case now.

Yeah. It would be one thing to simply have a different opinion, but what is weird is this post acting like this is some universal opinion, whereas Glover's portrayal of Lando is one of the most widely praised part of Solo. Like, I think this is legitimately the first time I can recall someone taking issue with that portrayal, to say nothing of presenting it so strongly.

Plus, the classic "who wants this" in a thread full of people wanting it. Always a strange way of phrasing things.
