I thought Dryden Vos was a great villain.

It’s obvious to me that they wanted to do some sort of trilogy or at least a sequel if Solo did well. I kinda wish if that had happened Dryden had stayed alive. I don’t need Maul again

I think this has a real opportunity to be maybe the boldest and loosest Star Wars series to date, and much more of an adventure of the week, serial style than any of the others. Even though some of the other Star Wars series were more episodic at times, each season was always unified by an arc or an end goal. I'd love for Lando to be more akin to Atlanta, in which nearly every episode is its own separate story, sometimes unified by location or characters, or other times, truly off the deep end.

It's time to go outside the box.

I thought Dryden was great as a one-off villain. The sequels would probably not have dealt with Maul to any great extent, if at all. I imagine the second movie would've focused on different antagonists, like the hutts and Boba Fett. Qi'ra might not have reappeared until the third one.

    But who knows?

I think the problem with having Maul as a villain in films like Solo (and the sequels they were planning on doing) or a series like Lando is that he is way too powerful of a character for non-force users to go up against. The Solo sequels obviously aren't happening so who knows what they had planned, and as for the Lando series (if its happening) I wouldn't want him in it even if they do delve into the underworld.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Qi’ra again though. I know they have been dealing with her in the comics, but she isn’t dead yet

I’d be more enthused for a movie than tv show, although I’m also feeling slightly less confident in its completion now.

Another angle here to consider, Steven Glover *might* be negotiating in the open. One of the major sticking points of the ongoing SAG/WGA strike is residuals/royalties for streaming shows. When (big name) actors star in movies they get “points” off the box office and rentals of the movie, and big tv shows that get rerunned (think Friends, Seinfeld etc) make residuals too, it becomes an income source for the rest of their lives, but there’s no system for residuals from steaming shows. That is a major incentive for Glover to have this project be a movie rather than steaming show. This could be a not-so subtle way for him to be saying to Bob and Kathy, “We expect residuals on the this streaming show.”

I know I’m in the minority on thinking Solo was the best of all the Disney era films so is definitely an exciting development. I just hope most of the Solo cast is returning.

Making this a film makes me think they'll probably try to loop in the Crimson Dawn storyline again. That's fine by me, but I still hope this goes big, bold and WEIRD.

One one hand: cool...hopefully this film gets made.
On the other: I was really hoping for a show with a Studio 54 type establishment run by Lando and all the debauchery that goes along with it (this is mainly based on the logo).

I mean, who wouldn't want an episode solely dedicated to getting rid of the random Gigoran body that OD'd on spice.

It was probably going to be that. But, now, it is going to be the outrageous story of Lando vs Darth Maul and we will see Maul cause the injury that leads to Lobot's cybernetics.

They were not kidding when it was said they were moving away from D+ shows. Im assuming the profit for D+ isn't as strong as box office profit.

What a shame Obi Wan didn't get a movie.

Maybe this could be a cool crime caper movie? I suppose Solo was aiming for something a bit like that with mixed results but I still think a Star Wars crime movie could be cool, especially with Lando as the star and Glover as one of the writers.

If this gets made, and the suits don't meddle with it, I'll have more faith that this will turn out better than Boba Fett walking around town telling everybody that he's a crime boss and then not actually doing any crime boss stuff.

I was just thinking that. It seems like a lot less emphasis and focus on Disney+ is coming soon for SW content, and probably beyond SW too. And yes, the timing for Kenobi... it could have been a movie after all.
