Language of Naboo

Is there a native language of Naboo, other than Basic?

Okay...

Nubian is NOT the adjective form of Naboo. It's the adjective form of Nubia, which is a completely different planet. If you'll notice, Amidala is referred to as the Queen of THE Naboo, indicating that the adjective form of Naboo is Naboo.

Having said that, I don't think there is a canon source which states a Naboo language. You're free to make one up, though.

In The Wildlife of Star Wars, two languages are listed for the planet Naboo: Basic and Gungan. It would appear that the original human colonists to the planet brought Basic with them, and their decendents speak it as their primary language.

I'm not certain whether "Gungan" refers to the pidgin "Basic" Jar Jar speaks, or whether the Gungans have their own language, and rely on "Basic" to communicate with their human counterparts. (I'm presuming the latter, but that's just my interpretation.)

 

Thanks to everyone for their help. In a couple of fan fics I've read the people from Naboo spoke their own language and I wondered if it was an 'official' one or not. Think I will stick with Basic.

This is probably pretty offtopic, but I noticed the mention of Nubia, and I thought it would be helpful to mention this:

Nubia is a planet in the Corellian Sector. For whatever reason, it seems that the Naboo - or maybe just Padmé - are fond of Nubian ship designs, because her transport from The Phantom Menace, the cruiser from the beginning of Attack of the Clones, and the yacht she and Anakin took to Tatooine are all Nubian in design.
