?See, I told you if you kept at it, eventually we?d get away.?

The Captain may have been grinning, but Kraid was not. The last second maneuver to miss the station bay wall reminded Kraid of how a ship he was on once went through an asteroid field to evade some upset pirates. Not a very pleasant memory.

But remarkably, Kraid was able to realize despite almost visibly shaking with excitement and fear, his flying was all reaction, dodging the station bay wall and other ships in the way at full throttle and at close quarters without even thinking, just acting. He entered a higher level of piloting, or so he joked to himself, if he could joke at all right now.

Kraid was still there enough to focus on what was happening. "Rylee," his voice almost shaking along with his body, and a lot more quiet than it was before, "scan the area for other ships, make sure there aren't Imps waiting for us. Cap'n, Rylee already punched in some jump coordinates to a random place, I suggest we do a couple of random jumps like that to try to confuse or lose the crazy Jedi following us before heading to our actual destination, if we have one."

Walking into the crew lounge, Azul saw that quiet, tough mercenary -she hadn?t really read the man, and now it wasn?t a moment for it, so she guessed he was a mercenary anyways- resting his head on the table, traces of blood on his face. It only took her about three seconds to guess what had happened.

?Nonono? she rushed to his side ?Don?t lay down, at least let me give you a check up?

Ooc: she?s not as stupid as to even touch him without his consent?

The boy nodded drowsily and set to work. He scanned the area exhaustively, and even scanned twice. This was all they needed, Imperial ships too close to them. His hands shook slightly, for the very first time he was actually scared of something else than a Hutt, and Rye didn?t like the feeling one bit. With a gulp, he checked the results of his work, and sighed in relief.

?No, thir, there are no thigns of Imperial thips anywhere? there ith a fighter to our left, but I gueth it ith the one that freaky guy wath talking about? (1) he informed, resting back on his chair, the blood on his face even more clear against his pale face.

    Tag: Kraid, Captain

(1)- Ask him to repeat himself if you didn?t get what he said (you oughtta be quite dummy for that)? Whenever his upset, the mispronouncing of his S becomes more clear (when he?s really really upset he also mispronounces his TH as F) He?s very young after all!

    Bridge- Fool?s Gamble

Sliding out of his seat, The Captain made his way over to the sensor display. There, off to the left side of the ship, was detected a starfighter alright, but within the next few seconds, eleven more signatures appeared with it in formation. The odd thing was, they weren?t reading as Imperial fighters?in fact, they weren?t really reading as anything. They couldn?t even identify the make. Just ?starfighters-class vessels.? ?Looks like we?ve got some company,? the Captain said, matter-of-factly, as he stared at the display. ?Our sensors aren?t reading them as Imperial, but I?d recognize that precision formation flying anywhere. They must be using some kind of sensor scrambler to disguise themselves. That means, even though we can?t pick it up, there must be a larger ship in the area. Perhaps behind one of the system?s bodies. The fighters still a good distance away, though, but coming up fast. Make ready for the first jump whenever you boys can? and a couple after that if possible before we set course for Tatooine.?

Reaching over to the comm. controls on the center console, the Captain sent out a message directly to the turret pods. ?If anyone?s down there yet, we?ve got Imperial fighters incoming. Keep your eyes peeled.? Releasing the switch on the comm, the Captain looked out the viewport and sighed. ?Now we can only hope we can escape before they overtake us.?

    TAG: Kraid, Ryelee, Hexis, Veers

OOC: Don?t have us jump yet until Hexis makes his post. I have something special in mind.

Also, consider this a bit of a GM override of the results of the last post. In the future, if we need something like that, tag the GM and I?ll post what comes up.

And it?s worth mentioning, but when Jav and S2 put the ship together, they made sure to put some controls for each of the ship?s systems on the central console/navigational console so that they could run the ship by themselves, but it can be operated more fully with people actually at each station. And that?s been your lesson on the Fool?s Gamble for today!

All the yelling and fidgeting resulted in his wounds re-opening, blood running slowly down his flushed face. Swearing and cursing himself under his breath, Rye lurched his tiny frame forward, dwarfed by the size of everything around him.

He quickly changed the coordinates to an even more remote place, readied the shields to be activated at Kraid?s -or the Captain?s- word and set to work to do the same with the weapons.

?Th?F?Ahh?urgh?hmmm? he stopped, arching an eyebrow at himself quite comically ?Ok, again, sorry about that people?Shields, yay me!, and weaponth ready, coordinates thet for fe Fothe knows quite far away from here?? he stopped and moved around a bit more ?Captain, there?s no sign of your friend?s thip? what now??

The pain coursed slowly throughout Juren as he rested his head on the table. The first, second, and fourth falls were all he could've taken, but the third one was a bit horrifying in its result. Still, Juren was bred on pain, perhaps, so that no outward emotion could be detected save a lingering tiredness.

Yet he wasn't allowed to sleep long, as a young girl, who seemed actually to be around Juren's age, yet he felt that he at least held a year or so on her, came up to him.

?Nonono,? she spoke rather suddenly. ?Don?t lay down, at least let me give you a check up.?

A check up?, Juren thought. That was about the last thing he wanted at the moment: anyone bothering him. The falls had put him in a mood worse than his usual aloof and antisocial personality. Although the headache colored any of his thoughts, Juren decided to refuse such treatment, and shook his head at the offer before he let himself fall back onto the table.

    Tempest and Rancor

    Gun Turrets, Fool's Gamble

The two stormtroopers had themselves already strapped in. "Ten credits per tango bagged?" Rancor challenged down the gunwell as he swivled his emplacement into the direction the starfighters were coming from.

"Make it twenty!" shouted Tempest, accepting the bet.

"If anyone?s down there yet, we?ve got Imperial fighters incoming. Keep your eyes peeled.? They heard the captain and both of their stomachs dropped.

    "Imperial fighters?"

    "Oh man..."

"Why couldn't have been pirates or Alliance fighters?" complained Rancor, not so sure now that he wanted to place a bet on each Imperial he killed.

"Zem," Tempest called, the uncertainty in his voice.

"What's wrong, Dak?" replied Veers over their comm system.

"Incoming fighters are Imperial," he merely said.

"I see." Certainly they had fought fellow Imperials in the past and even attacked Imperial installations in the name of their Emperor, but each time they did so they did so with a tinge of regret and wishing that they did not have to fight each other. "Do what you must to protect this ship, nothing more."

"Yes, sir." The two stormtroopers were silent as they watched the targeting computers calculate the distance between the Fool's Gamble and the incoming fighters.

The turbolift swished open, giving him access to the bridge. The Imperial Colonel strode across the walkway, briefly hesitating in his step as he recalled what had last transpired up here. The memories of his fight with the Sith Lord were still fresh and he could not help but remember the feeling of fear and helplessness. The Colonel shook the thoughts out of his head and stepped down the small flight of steps.

"Captain, my boys are in the gunwells and, although relunctant to fire on former comrades, they are ready to protect this ship," he informed. "If there is anything that I can do to help?"

Crossing her arms across her ample chest, the Azul fixed the beat up man with a concerned gaze shinning behind her ice blue eyes. She knew for a fact that he at least had to be suffering from a head-splitting headache, so she sighed and crouched down beside him, resting a warm, small hand upon his shoulder as she softened her tone.

?All right, I?ll be straight with you and hope you?re not as stupid as to let my words slip by? she started, her eyes never leaving him, her voice soft and soothing ?You might have a concussion or something of the like, and if it doesn?t get treated you might have to be dependant on someone else for the rest of your life, you wouldn?t want that, would you??

She didn?t mean that as a threat, but as a warning.

    Hexis De'Shae
    Fools Gamble

The ship was eerily quiet. Hexis knew, after the commotion a minute ago, such a silence could mean only one thing. They were in trouble.

To confirm his feelings he turned off the Nueral Dampeners. It was dangerous, and risky, but he needed to know what was going on.

One off he reached out. His skills in the Force were minimal, but he was strong. And he could generally find people in the Force or atleast register others around him and their feelings.

Across the void he could sense malice and it was headed towards him and the Fools Gamble, quickly.

Accessing the Threat Alert on the Slave Circuit Beacon, he allowed the ship to know he was in danger and that threat assessment was needed.

A simple program was then iniated that activated target scans that then designated friendlies from foe. In this case the only friendly that would be painted is the ship Hexis was on.

Once this was done targets would be locked. All this was done with minimal power so as to not alert the enemy to the fighters actionss.

Hexis could do no more. But wait and see how tihngs played out.

    MandoX-EpsilonZ0597

The fighter had a minimal AI system that could corrdinate tasks. The task it was now given was to protect the other half to its Slave Circuit System.

One the scans were complete, the threats were found and targeted.

Instantly all systems were online. The twin shield generators at full to rpovide double the protection, as well as the large turret canon on the nose of the ship at full power.

The Mandalorian Fighter came at them full speed in an intercept course. Directly in front of them. This was an unexpected thng since they weren't thinking of Hexis' ship being with teh Gamble.

As the fighter passes in front of them a powerful blast eminates from the anon, taking out, not just one, but two ships. The display of firepower a testiment to Mandalorian technology.

This, even more than the first thing, surprised the fighter pilots even more, causing them to scatter and begin anew with a strategy.

MandoX-EpsilonZ0597, began to fix its signals on the beacon once more and prepared for the inevtiable Hyperspace launch. Locking onto the Beacons signal.

Jav reached over and attempted to put a hand on the boy?s shoulder, fumbling momentarily before making a connection. as he kept his eyes glued to the sensor monitor. ?Don?t worry about it, my boy. These things happen. Just make sure those shields stay up.?

?Th?F?Ahh?urgh?hmmm? he stopped, arching an eyebrow at himself quite comically ?Ok, again, sorry about that people?Shields, yay me!, and weaponth ready, coordinates thet for fe Fothe knows quite far away from here?? he stopped and moved around a bit more ?Captain, there?s no sign of your friend?s thip? what now??

?Now we wait?and run?and hope the Imps don?t catch up with us.?

Suddenly, from behind, he heard footsteps come from the region of the lift tube.

"Captain, my boys are in the gunwells and, although relunctant to fire on former comrades, they are ready to protect this ship. If there is anything that I can do to help?" Veers? voice called out.

Ryelee was the first to speak up after that. ?Former comrades? Am I mithing summfin???

?Nothing you need to worry about right now,? the Captain remarked as he glanced back towards Veers and motioned towards the Comm. station on the far side of the bridge. ?Have a seat and buckle in, Zem, and keep an eye on Comms. Hopefully we can get out of here without engaging the ene? the Imperial fighters.?

Eyes locked on the sensor display, the Imperial fighters drew ever closer by the second and the fear was quickly arising that they were indeed going to somehow do battle with all twelve of these ships. He hadn?t taken the Gamble into combat before and didn?t know how well she was going to hold up. Then, as if by an answer to prayer, another reading suddenly appeared on their sensors?another fighter identifying itself as MandoX-EpsilonZ0597. In a flash, two of the Imperial fighters disappeared from the screen while the rest scattered to acquire their new target. This was it.

?We?ve got our opening. If you can do it, Kraid, jump??now!?

The man didn't wait for a reply. In his experience, people usually left one alone when refused, and the more persistent were shaken off rather quickly. The girl, however, seemed rather insistent, but much of his thought was clouded at the moment. He was of a weak physical state, however toughened he might have been, by his life on the streets. Such a sudden and painful experience only asked to bring about effects.

The girl put her hand on Juren's shoulder and crouched next to him. Normally, he would've violently shaken off this movement, but he was so disoriented at the moment that the action didn't fully register in his mind.

The rest of what she said was a blur. Having not slept for about 48 hours, and the increasing headache, he quickly faded from the scene. Faces past him by: Zechen Ralekh, Turaem.....

A small shaft of moonlight hit the floor beneath Zechen's feet as the redheaded leader faced Juren. It had been a long day, calculating in seven largescale jobs in the last week, culminating to the following morning. Zechen was backed into a corner by a local crime lord named Ytzi Favuvu. They planned to assassinate the man to turn off his group, as the last thing Zechen wanted was to be involved in a crime battle. He was more interested in his group then the affairs of others.

"You did what I asked, Juren? I credit you a good thief, but your skills as an assassain are yet to be determined." Zechen spoke, his calm and pleasant voice was shaded with expectancy.

"Yes, sir. I killed Amunok Iad, and sent his thumb to Ytzi as a warning. If he refuses to back off now, we'll have no choice but to kill him as well." Juren responded.

"Perhaps. Perhaps indeed. That is all I need to know for now, Juren. Thank you."

    "It is my pleasure, sir."

As such, Juren walked out of the room and resumed in a near-desolate lounge. Aluphaus was busy reading an old Vetosban folk tale his mother had written. It was the only thing of hers he had left after she had died of disease...her medical needs put on hold as a richman paid off a corrupt doctor to make his minor injury a high detail. Gods forbid he would be late to a business meeting. Having no money of their own, Aluphaus watched slowly as his mother faded from life...

The only other occupant was Mumuyr and someone Juren barely knew, a Rodian by the name of Guardu. Mumuyr looked up and greeted him soberly. "It's nice to see you've arrived, then. Meeting with Zechen go alright?"

"Right enough," replied Juren. "May I ask what you are doing at this late hour?"

"Simple!" answered Mumuyr. "Guardu and I were just trading tales from days old."

"I...I see. Do you happen to know where Turaem is, then?"

"Ah, the pair is still as inseperable as always. He's outside, I do believe. Enjoying the smoggy Coruscant air." laughed Mumuyr, his sentiment echoed by his Rodian companion.

Juren nodded and headed out of the building. He noticed Turaem sitting rather dejectedly as he stared into the cold, blue night sky. "You alright?" Juren asked.

    "It would seem so."

    "What do you mean?"

"I mean what I said. Now come, I won't mind company at the moment."

Juren nodded and took a seat next to Turaem...

    Turaem...

Juren's mind drifted about. He had fallen asleep.

    Bridge, Fool's Gamble

The Colonel nodded and took his place at the Comms station. He took a quick look at the controls and screens before adjusting a frequency he knew these Imperials would use. Although he would not be able to intercept encrypted messages, comm chatter on the other hand could be picked up if you knew which frequencies to look for. Being Imperial himself, he knew which frequencies the Empire used.

He also knew how Imperial pilots worked.

Placing an earpiece in his left ear, he spoke to the boy; "Rylee, ignore the starfighters, do a long range scan of the system for anything bigger than the station. Those fighters have to have come from somewhere and they will attempt to drive us to it before we reach our exit vector."

Out the viewport he saw crimson flashes of the Gamble's gun turrents as his men attempted to thwart the Empire. Veers found it rather odd at thinking of the Empire in that way. All his life he had always been a part of the Empire, always on the inside looking out and never the other way around. Now that he was on the outside, he was surprised that he thought of his Empire as the Empire.

His thinking was interrupted by comm chatter between the enemy pilots.

    Kraid Tynne
    bridge, Fool's Gamble

Kraid began to settle down, getting a more confident grip on reality. He was making a beeline straight towards the jump point to the coordinates that Rylee fed to the navicomputer. Only a few more seconds...

He noticed Zem sitting down at the comm seat, but didn't think much of it. He was through for the while with harassing the Imperial officer. His displays were reporting that the Gamble's turrets were firing; probably taking potshots at the fighters since their shields weren't reporting any hits.

He also noticed that Rylee's speech was sounding... odd. Kraid glanced back and was shocked to see blood on the boy's face and head. But he couldn't act on it now; he had to fly the ship to the jump point and start coming up with a wild mynock chase across the sector.

?We?ve got our opening. If you can do it, Kraid, jump??now!?

    "Hold on Cap'n! Thirty seconds!"

Still at full throttle, Kraid slowly pitched the ship a full 90 degrees. Once he leveled the ship off, he handed control over to the navicomputer. Already on course for the jump, the navicomputer did some slight course adjustments. Distance to jump point was counting down rapidly on the display. Time of jump: 1 minute 13 seconds!

"Cap'n, this is going to be a really short jump, only 1 minute long, hopefully they won't track it quick enough for us to come up with another jump!"

It was time. "Standy for jump," he called out over the ship's comm.

An aural tone rang out having reached the jump point, and the stars stretched into rods of light giving way to the purple-white swirl of hyperspace.

Kraid immediately unlatched himself and jumped out of his seat. He grabbed the medkit on the wall and ripped it open as he ran towards Rylee. He handed the boy the kit as he pulled out some wipes and began cleaning the blood from the boy, found his head wound and placed some gauze on top of it.

"Rylee, here's a bunch of guaze, you hold it to your head right here, hold pressure on it, okay? You did good."

He turned towards the Captain. "Cap'n, you want me to tend to him, or you want to, or do you want to send him below deck with the rest? He needs to get bandaged up, and we gotta punch in some new jump coordinates fast."

Moving quickly, the Duros Captain made his way to the lift tube and, shortly after, to the lower level. He looked up at the Duros with his best, genuine puppy eyes, hoping he would be allowed back in the bridge, still pressing the gauze Kraid gave him to his eyebrow.

With a last worried glance at the man lying on the table, Azul stood up and dashed out.

?Oh nuffin really? jutht too thlow to buckle up? He answered, still in the Captain?s arms, still pouting, and crossing his arms across his chest like the cute sulking little kid he was.

Azul nodded, relieved. She knew Rye tended to mispronounce his S a little, and he was agitated, plus his lip was swollen. But he could speak and make sense, which was a good sign.

?More like I?ll need yours, sir? she turned to the Duros, worry shinning back in her eyes ?I think everyone?s pretty much fine?except for that mercenary, cold, antisocial guy?? she winced ?That?s all I know about him? he?s pretty banged up but he wouldn?t let me tend to him, and now he?s fallen asleep on the lounge, which is not good at all? as she spoke, Azul was mentally making a list of every head injury that man could?ve taken, her worry growing by the minute ?Anyways, he?s like twice as big as I am, and I need a hand getting him to the medbay, but since no one cares to tell what?s going on, and just dashes to the turrets, I thought you could help me out??

?Kriff? she heard Rye mutter, leaning against the wall.

With a quick movement, she caught him before he hit the ground and gently carried him to the medbay, his blood staining her bare shoulders a bit.

After setting him on a counter, she held up two fingers.

?How many, Rye?? she asked softly.

?Two? muttered the boy, blinking at the stupidity of the question.

She finished the lip and eyebrow, cleaned all of the blood from his face and leaned back to think.

?How much liquids did you drink today, shorty??

The cheeky grin Rye managed answered her question. She walked out and into the galley, returning moments after with a glass of cold blue milk. Rye drank it eagerly and smiled up, looking like the perfect model for a ?Got Milk?? add.

Hexis closed his sneses and powered up the Neural Dampeners again.

The jump to lightspeed was a comforting feeling. The tone told him his ship was following and that systems were full power until he shut the Threat Alert off.

He moved back into the cargo bay and took a seat on the floor opposite the crate he was here to see safely delivered. He wanted to make sure it wasn't tampered with at any point of the journey.

"Random jumps is fine," Veers answered and quickly considered something he had overheard the boy and the Mando argue about. "But if that Mandolarian's ship is following us then they can get a vector and head us off before we drop out."

He quickly turned back to the control panel and began fiddling with it. "I am going to attempt to jam all communications aboard this ship. We have to severe that link or the Imperials can follow us all the way to Tattooine."

It was almost immediate. The tone that sounded off told Hexis that someone was trying to jam the signal to his ship.

Now that wouldn't do. Not in the least.

He was up off the floor and to the turbolifts in minutes. Acsessing them he then came out on the bridge, crossing drawing his blaster from his left hip with his right hand and pointed it directly at the man sititng at the Com station where jamming was controlled. He also turned off the Nueral Dampeners so he had the Force. He would not lose his ship.

I'm afraid you should cease and desist all jamming of my signal. If not, then I'm afraid I'll have to do something drastic.

Smiling, he had the blaster aimed at the mans head.

"Go ahead and shoot me," the Colonel replied, never turning around to face the Mando and ever continuing his attempt to jam the signal; clearly he was unafraid. "You will gain nothing but failure in the end. Your ship endangers this ship, its crew and its cargo. So long as it tails us, any ships monitoring our exit vectors will be able to track where we go and head us off. Do you want your cargo to end up in Imperial custody?" He hoped the last would get the Mando to reconsider about abandoning the ship for the time being. If not, he suspected that he was not going to see Bastion ever again.

Course if the Mandalorian had any sense, he'd shoot the console rather than him. Killing a crew member would only hurt the Mandalorian. Destroying their only means of communication would just piss off Kraid. Veers wondered how smart Mandalorians really were. He was about to find out.

"Sounds good, Zem, jam the hell out of that signal."

The navicomputer gave its aural signal, and the ship ended it's jump. Standing a safe distance in front of them like an ancient sentinal was a pulsar. Kraid briefly looked at it in wonder when the thought dawned on him: Well, sure hope that thing doesn't wreak too much havoc on our own systems.

Kraid have to move quick. He found an isolated nebula, about a 17 minute jump. That'd be a good starting point for the wild mynock chase. But they had to take care of this slave signal to the "cool guy's" ship before...

"I'm afraid you should cease and desist all jamming of my signal. If not, then I'm afraid I'll have to do something drastic."

Kraid spun around and saw the armored being leveling his blaster at Zem. Kraid slowly stood up, cursing that this madman was standing between him and his carbine.

He went off at the Mandalorian wannabe after Zem gave his challenge: "Why don't YOU think straight for a moment, iceman, put down that damn blaster, send your ship somewhere off safe by itself so we don't have some damn orange flag flying over our heads and inviting an Imp interdiction. You hear???"

He looked at the man who stood. The anger on his face would have been evident if his helmet didn't cover his visage.

My ship is going to Tatooine. And please sit down, I don't like having to hurt people.

He then, quickly and decisevly used the Force to shove at the man standing in fornt of him. Just enough to knock him back in his seat but not screw up any systems.

Perhaps you should let me into my ship. I can then meet you on Tattoine. would this be acceptable?

    Hexis didn't lower his blaster.

Kraid suddenly felt himself shoved back towards his chair, tumbling over it and falling to the floor but not before his head bumped against the control console. His legs on the chair, back on the floor, and a throbbing head against the center console, his blood boiled. As he slowly got to his feet, he gripped with both hands on the center console to get himself up, and as he did so he inconspicuously turned on the ship-wide comm. Now everyone would hear the "conversation" taking place on the bridge.

    KRIFFING..... KARKING..... JEDI!!!!!

"You don't like having to hurt people, yet you go ahead and use your little 'Force' to do so," he said clearly and angrily, barely holding himself back. "PERHAPS we should let you back onto your ship? Are we your creator-damned captors, Jedi??? I've heard of you, Crandon's Mandalorian lap dog. That's quite cute and honorable for YOUR kind."

Kraid angrily punched the controls that put the ship to a full stop. Immediately the engines revved down and forward thrusters fired, the ship going nowhere in space in less than thirty seconds. He glared at the Hutt scum.

"This ship is dead in the water. I suggest you get to the kriffin' docking hatch and get the hell off before you get us all killed."

Not another one, Veers groaned and paused his hands over the comms console. Why do the frell do I always get picked out by Force-users? First the Sith hunt me, then a Sith tries to get passage aboard and nearly kills me and now we have a Jedi Mandalorian... whoever thought of that being possible?!

"A Jedi Mandalorian, whoever thought of that being possible," he repeated verbally and turned slightly in his seat. "All the more reason why you should stop transmitting. If this ship is captured because of you and the Sith learn you are capable of using the Force..." he trailed off, positive that the Mando knew what would be in store for him.
