Anakin begins down this dark path in Episode II. It's when he tells Padme: "So, you could say, we are encouraged to love." His voice goes up on the word "encouraged". This is rather like Palpatine's voice going up on the word "Sith" in his statement to Anakin in ROTS: "The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way..." Both are trying to impress their "chosen ones" by bending the truth; a bending which is most apparent when their voices go up.

This is Carl Sagan's "baloney detection kit":

I definitely agree here. Everyone has important choices to make in their life, and it's never simple. Anakin is even more conflicted because the two things he wants cannot coexist. To say he should have just lived the Jedi life no problem is to grossly oversimplify things.

And Anakin isn't an idiot, far from it. While filling the grand role of mythicial Tragic Hero, he also represents the everyman if you think of it in simplest terms. He's torn between love and duty. He's a good man who is subjected to hidden evil influences, one of which being his own inner nature. Normal people are always torn between what is right, what is good, and what they want. Anakin lost that internal battle on a grand scale. They Jedi did also, Anakin and the Jedi are equally misguided.

Not only did Lucas not make that point across in any of the PT films, but he's also made the Jedi into hypocrites. Anakin gets punished for impregnating Padme while other Jedi get to have all the free sex they want without realising the possibility that they might do the same with the person they slept with (or become pregnant themselves). If the Jedi wants the have sex, they have to be considerate of the other person's feelings which is the downfall of the no-attachment rules because by detaching themselves from other people, they become insensitive to their feelings. The people will resent the Jedi for not caring about them and that resentment leads to anger which is a path to the Dark Side which is why the galaxy at large had no problem with Palpatine putting the Jedi on the extinction list.

Anakin is SO dumb he makes Paris Hilton look like a genius. A smart person would never believe a single word that came out of Palpatine's mouth nor would he join forces with him especially after finding out that this man is responsible for the individuals that tried to kill Padme and for the galaxy being torn apart by war. He would also not betray the people who raised him and trained him to the best of their abilities all because they don't give him enough credit.

Anakin found out who Palpatine really is but the Dark Side has overshadowed his common sense, he didn't care who gets hurt just so long as he sees to it that Padme survives her childbirth.

Anakin doesn't know that it's all a deception until he's told that he killed Padme (which is technically not true). Even if the Jedi hadn't gone after Palpatine, they will still look bad in Anakin's eyes because he'll think that they're the reason that the Clone Wars took over the galaxy and would've sided with PalpSidious anyway thus leading to the Order 66 massacre.

That's a good point that is overlooked in Anakin's fall. Other Jedi were not subjected to slavery and restriction of freedom, and then taught how to access vast amounts of power to change events later in life. "The boy is dangerous" was always a good tag line for seeing Anakin. He was always in danger of the darkside, we could see it in him as a child, and more so as an adult.
