Oooh, that's the explanation. I always watched that duel puzzeled as to why Kenobi's lightsaber kept shorting out, while Vader's glowed strong (and pink ;)). I just figured it was due to bad special effects or something in the 70's. Has Lucas ever talked about that? cause it is something that he should explain.

I always thought encore for Timothy's Zahn's perspective on the lightsaber sound of ignition --- Snap-hiss. That's one way of putting it. :D

But I agree generally all blade's vary in the way they sound, especially in what movie and what certain Jedi or Sith. :)

qui-gon-kim: And I don't necessarally find the explaination believable. :confused:A lightsaber is a lightsaber, a Sith blade - if it's artificial or not can't slice through another beam of pure energy.

Well anyways, in ep3 whatever red blade we see will most likely have a deeper sound to it again. I hope, cause i thinks it's cool.

Most likely we'll see Vader's red so it will have those familiar sounds of his lightsaber we heard in the OT.

I just figured it was due to bad special effects or something in the 70's.

Well, that's pretty much what it is :D And they didn't correct it for the Special Editions either.

This whole 'Sith blades breaking Jedi blades' malarky is all smoke 'n' mirrors, a nice little attempted cover-up :p
