I thought that was the line for a long time, too.

Ok, today my family was watching part of one of the SW movies, and my dad goes, "Now is it lightsabre or lightsaver?"
I just stared at him and said. "And you got to see this when it came out and I didn't. I hate you."

I thought it to be:
"Your insides serves you well."

Sure it's grammatically incorrect, but I took it to mean feelings on the inside.

 

Stormtrooper-"Did you see that new babe,she's 16".

 

I could never work out what the hell he said, it sounded like bargaining....something. Then I finally saw it on subtitles, and it's just him mumbling in that half-intelligible Huttese he uses

The english translation to that is:

'Bargain rather than fight? He's no Jedi!'

So you were actually pretty close!

'A gentleman wastes enough to be travelled lightly!;

'That guy's wise!'
'Like Paulie Shore!'

'Know what's going on?'
'Maybe it's another girl...'

^But that made sense to me because the princess was already causing them so much trouble, so one more on the loose (since I think the team had split up by then) would be worse
I actually thought that's wehat they were saying until I read differently on these boards

When I first saw ROTJ in 83 I thought he was blinding Luke. Then I couldn't figure out how Luke could see again later. Someone had to explain it to me.

By the way, did anyone know you can hear the Imperial March very faintly when C-3PO is describing Vader to the Ewoks during his bedtime stories?

Also there's a Duros, and possibly a Walrus Man, in Jabba's palace? Look right behind Luke when he says "Same as always" to Han.

I thought "alterate" was a word, meaning altering.

Wait thats not what he actually said?! is it?

 

People already mentioned the ones I misheard- "Jungland wastes," "in motion" etc.

I guess also Bib Fortuna too, for me anyway. Sometimes he throws in english-sounding words and it used to drive me nuts, as I would sit there thinking that some of his sentences were entirely in english, and that he was mumbling or not articulating or had an accent or something. There's already one example in the thread. Here's another- when he says "Jabba no batta." For the longest time, I thought he was saying "Jabba no barter," meaning Jabba wouldn't barter. Or, maybe he was saying that. Arrrrgh! There are others, but I can't remember 'em. I hope he was on the sail barge for all the grief he's caused me over the years! (;


And, to this day, I still can't tell when Chewey's happy or moody. (;

Leia ESB - "Scruffy looking Nerve Hurter" ("Nerf Herder")

Yoda - "Emotion" me too!

Probe Driod - "Imperial Signal, Imperial Sig."

Bib - "Lay Jabba W****r"!

Luke ANH - "I don't think its right, I'm never gonna get outta here" (Oh Biggs is right-")

3PO ANH - "No I don't like him either" meaning Luke. (I don't like you)

Han ROJ - "Oh not yet!" ("Boba Fett!")

Thats all I can think of now, there were probably more!

 

Well, here's a line I still can't figure out; anyone know what Luke is saying in ANH when the creature in the garbage smasher has its tenticle wrapped around his neck, and Luke says to Han, "Blast it, will ya? My ______ ________"
Whatever those 2 words are, I can't figure them out.

for the longest time i had no idea what 3PO says in the sandcrawler when they arrive at the lars homestead.

then when i saw the SE in theaters i heard
"do you think they'll melt us down?"

that IS what he says right?

When I was 4,5,6 years old, before VCRs, I listened to Star Wars on record (I'm sure most of you kids have no idea what I'm talking about). I listened to the dialogue closely and frequently, but there dozens of lines I continuously misheard, but I can't remember them now.

 

DoctorZaius: Yes, "melt us down" is the correct line.

 

When 3po stands up in front of the ewoks for the first time I always thought i heard one say, "It's a robot."

 

"Carrie!"

 

When I was little,I thought C-3PO said "I hope there's a bathroom in here" in the escape pod instead of "There's no structural damage out here".

 

Oh man. This is one of the funniest threads I've seen in a while. One of my favorites so far is:

That had me laughing for a while. Whew. That just puts a great image in my head.
