There’s 2 publishing panels on day 1. First was the manga panel, with a few reveals-
    • Jedi: Fallen Order is getting a manga adaptation
    • Thrawn is getting a manga adaption, seems like just the first book atm.
    • The Star Wars manga from 1998 is getting an Art of book, with many original illustrations and sketches

Star Wars had a manga? In the '80s? Not the one with Tao, right?

    90s, the OT and TPM.

    From the 2nd panel:
    • The Battle of Eriadu one shot from Dark Horse
    • The High Republic: The Beacon from Marvel, featuring many cameos
    • The Art of Andor, covering both seasons.
    • Beyond Victory comic, based on the VR game
    • Legacy of Vader #8 will include a new Knight of Ren (so will the previously announced Path of the Lightsaber manga)

I didn’t expect Vader to go beyond 5 so that’s already news!

I’m pretty sure they originally announced Legacy of Vader as an ongoing?

Anyway, nothing spectacular. A few cover reveals and character teases, and mostly for the comics at that. But I’m not too surprised, the panelists were mostly the comics people.

I mean, they still have 10 years worth of events to fill the space between The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker.

There's only one year between those two movies.

Oy, he's referencing the sheer volume of events that took place in the year between TESB and ROTJ

Ok, I’m gonna preface this. I love the Thrawn stuff and I love Manga.

But why on earth are they adapting that 2017 book into comic form again? It’s literally just the Luke Ross comic again with a different aesthetic. Especially when they couldn’t be bothered to adapt the second one all the way through as a western comic. Ugh.

I’m not impressed either, to be honest, but I like it for video game or TV adaptions for my bookshelf.

Yeah that also struck me as odd that they would redo that one while leaving alliances unfinished.

Personally I would love for them to get to Thrawn Ascendancy so that we can get visuals of all the civilizations out there but boy does this make that seem unlikely. Plus I would have preferred some original star wars manga rather than just adaptations. Aw well, such is life.

Though yeah, that aside, sounds promising. I am especially looking forward to Art of Andor The Battle of Eriadu one shot, and I am curious about price of victory.

The Ascendancy stuff would have been great to see, especially in this manga style. Really would have made it an interesting project, showing the uniqueness of the Unknown Regions.

But we got the boring, lazy option instead. Yaaaay.

It'd be funny if they finish a manga adaption of Alliances before Marvel does theirs.

I doubt they’ll adapt the other books. If they didn’t want to do it in the Marvel comics, which are really the leading star of modern Lucasfilm publishing, then they’re not going to do it for an outsourced manga.

It’s also worth noting the character designs they showed off at the panel, they’re mostly going with Luke Ross’ depictions of Eli Vanto, Nightswan etc. It was probably just easier to look at the Marvel comic and use that as a baseline.

A full summary of everything discussed/revealed.

I’ll also say that all the panelists were pumped about Master of Evil, while Adam Christopher was pumped about the annotated ROTS, calling it the best Star Wars novel ever. Also Kenny Ruiz had some of the best energy, really looking forward to his manga.

If anyone from the boards actually attended SWCJ, obtained one or more copies of the "Beyond Victory" comic book handed out at the ILM / Meta booth, and might be willing to part with it, please feel free to shoot me a PM. Thank you!

The dubious joys of being a completist, ladies and gentlemen. 0/10, do not recommend.

Could i put my hat in the ring for a copy of Beyond victory too. I will pay shipping to me and a little extra. It really is hard being a completist but worth it.

I try to obtain a lot but getting absolutely everything has just become too much. I for the most part just focus on the Adult novels, YA novels, Marvel and some stuff from Darkhorse.
