Recently I've been thinking about long-lived species and how there are some species that effectively could have lived through the Clone Wars, Galactic Civil War, Vong War, and are even now alive and kicking in the Legacy Era. What species are all long-lived?

There are obvious culprits, such as Yoda's species, Hutts, and Wookies. We also have Feeorins, which live upwards of 400 years. Falleen live on average 250 years. Even K'Kruhk shows that Whiphids live longer than the average human.

But what other species do we have?

Master Fay was known to have lived for several centuries. Gen'Dai like Durge were known to have life-spans between 4000 and 7000 years. Also, Anzati reached puberty at 100 years of age and could extend their lives for very long afterwards.

One of my favorite species is the Neti. T'ra Saa and Ood Bnar of the tree-like Neti live thousands of years.

There are also the Draethos (Odan Urr lived for more than a millennium). Thon's species (the Tchuukthai) might also have a long lifespan, but this is strictly speculation on my part.

Muuns live a long time. The old Ultimate Guide to Alien Species book didn't make much of a mention of it, but a lot of the newer books have pointed it out. And it was brought up no less than 3 separate times in Millenium Falcon, probably because Luceno was miffed he didn't get to write that Plagueis story.

Hmmmmm... maybe that was his secret, actually. He could live forever because that's what Muuns just naturally do.

The Annoo-dat Blue can live for hundreds of years. Sise Fromm was 900 years old.

What is the life span for humans in Star Wars? I've read that it is supposed to be 100, but Han is 70 and still running around like he is 40. Gilad had to be 90 something when he died. Perhaps with the advanced medical technology, the normal life span is enhanced?

Human lifespan us usually up to 100 years, and some, age up to 300 for Force-sensitives.

Do we actually have any evidence of a 300-year-old human? I've seen that number tossed around before, but what with Luke's Force Ghost in the Legacy comics and all, 300 just begins to sound more and more unrealistic. (Admittedly, Luke might not have died of natural causes, but still.)

I distinctly recall Boba Fett making a reference in Bloodlines that would have placed the human lifespan squarely in the 120-130 range.

    The Great Sarlac... (shiver)[face_worried]

That thing is supposed to be thousands of years old, and possesses a simple,
remarkably evil form of intelligence, psychically torturing it's victims while
they are sustained and entombed inside it.

Really makes you want to torch a drum of gasoline and roll it down that thing's gullet.

Another favorite species of mine. I love Odan Urr. It seems the longest lived Jedi (I'm talking millennia, here) are among the most passive.

True, but Vima's the exception not the rule. In MF Jadak states that humans usually died in their ealry hundreds, but with rejuvenation procedures 125 to 150 wasn't uncommon.

There was Mother Rell (I think that was her name, might be wrong) from Courtship of Princess Leia, one of the Dathomiri Witches, she was around 300, I think that's where the number comes from originally for long human lifespans as it's the first instance of it in the EU.

Human-wise: Bohhuah Mutdah was about a century old when he was assassinated (Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon), Duke Teta reached 300 years old in 22 BBY with the help of medical treatments and organ transplants (according to Koyi Mateil's Databank profile), Orn Belden was 164 or so when he died in Truce At Bakura (his wife "only 132").

You're right about the name. The official canon statement was made in one of the RPG sourcebooks (considered c-canon, same level as any EU), where it explicitly stated that humans strong in the force live utp twice and more than that of a normal human, which comes out to 200+.

Of course, there's no need to talk about canon because almost everyone who works in the EU section tries their very best to create as many contradictions as possible (and discard rules they themselves created).

That's why you won't see Luke living for 200 or 300 years. Because in Star Wars, random no-name force sensitive humans get to have extreme lifespans, but the one that is strongest in the force will not :)
