I just gave the entire soundtrack a good listening. I must say that it is my favorite of the first two films. :)

Is that Bjork singing on Gollum's song? ;)

I couldn't stop laughing at the idea of her going on and on about Gollum, I don't know, I'm weird like that. [face_laugh] Anyway, that song was great as were many of the others. My only complaint is that it wasn't enough of a departure from the first soundtrack, and after spending some $30 for the blue leather-bound edition, I would have like to have a few more bonus tracks. Namely, the procession of the elves to the grey havens as featured in the 4-disc cut of the film.

Gollum's Song is, I daresay, a rip off of part of Danny Elfman's Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, in specific, Sally's Song from it. The vocal lines are very similar, not the same, but I got the feeling I was listening to a pale version of Elfman's melody (that soundtrack is at the top of the heap in my collection; it's dark creativity outshines most traditional orchestral soundtracks that rely on stale vamps and melodramatic swells).

Hmm, I didn't catch that. Elfman's score for TNBC is brillant, though. I think he is the first composer I went naked, screaming in the streets over (age six or so. :) ).

Am I hearing what you're all hearing? I picked up the score today, and granted it hasn't been a very good day, and granted I've only listened once, but I have *not* been impressed. It doesn't seem to flow at all, but rather just to jump from noise to noise.

Too true. I did some comparitive listening today between FOTR and TTT, the former is clearly the better of the two. At the moment, I somewhat regret paying 30 something dollars for the special leather bound edition of TTT, I pray that my ear grows fond of it after I see the film.

I am also a bit disappointed with the soundtrack. There are many lovely melodies on this soundtrack but overall it's just not as good as I expected. Especially Gollum's Song is simply awful. Plus I feel like cheated since that trailer piece of music isn't on the album. But the soundtrack is still nice enough so I don't think that I wasted my money. It will very likely work out fine with the movie and that's all that matters.

The music they used in the trailer is a "remix" of sorts of the theme from a movie called Requiem for a Dream. It was not written by Howard Shore and was only re-done for use in that trailer. You can find the track on the internet, so I'm told.

Personally, I'm going to wait until all three soundtracks are released together ('cause you know they're going to do that!) rather that buying each one. After all of the extended editions are released, there will be a wealth of material to be published.

Shore describes his score as an opera, and I think the final release of the material will reflect that. There are sure to be some additions and editing to bring the three disparate scores closer to one continuous movement.

Yes I know that now. I just wish that I would have known that when I bought the soundtrack. I really liked how they used it in the trailer.

To answer a question that may or may not have been answered, I believe that Enya has returned to write another song. I remember hearing something about a song being written for it, at least.

I don't know if this song is on the soundtrack, but the trailer music in the battle scene is just amazing. I loved "Requiem for a Dream"s music, and having TTT remake it and make it more of a war cry was absolutely fantastic. I listen to it all the time. :)

About the FotR soundtrack...why is Enya so special? I don't get why people were so happy about her being in the FotR soundtrack...

I've just watched TT...I believe as soon as I get the cash, I'm gonna buy the soundtrack. Wow...there's that one theme in particular that sounded like something from "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon"...is that the Rohan theme? Well, whatever it was, it's nice!

    :D

The chick singing Gollum's Song at the end makes my wisdom teeth's empty sockets vibrate most uncomfortably.

I do remember hearing a couple excellent themes, or parts of themes in the movie that were not on the soundtrack...

I love the soundtrack!!! Am listening to it now! So far, my faves are...

    -Foundations of stone

    -The White Rider

    -The Hornburg

    -Forth Eorlingas

    -Samwise the Brave

And while I think it's inferior to Enya's "May it Be", I like "Gollum's song". Very whacky! [face_laugh]

Ok, after finally getting access to the Enhanced content from the Internet limited edition, I can finally say: WOW. That made it was worth it. As soon as they get the other 2 videos up I am going to have to download everything and burn a CD.

Full maps of Rohan/Gondor and Middle Earth, good pics of the weapons, video and audio. *faints*

I absolutely love the Rohan theme. I have to say that the best musical scene of the film is right after Éowyn storms out of the throne room as she watches Gandalf and the others approach Edoras.

Yes the Rohan theme is amazing! The sheer number of excellent themes in these scores amazes me. Only Star Wars and Harry Potter are similar in scale...

""Isengard Unleashed (Nice rendition of the "Moth theme") ""

Sounded more like the Lothlorien music to me.

I have the soundtrack and I think it's good, though the FotR soundtrack was better. But I liked the song "the Hornburg" and "Isengard unleashed"

Does anyone know where the music of Haldir dying is? I can't seem to find it...
