Well we didnt even know how the Star Wars saga, regarding the Skywalkers, came about before the OT (we only heard stories)- where we know about how the Lost flight crashed on the island and already alot of teh backstories. The original trilogy was timeless and happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away and didnt jump from the past/present/future. Its a continual timeline (over the OT) and then there is a continual timeline over the PT- no jumping back and forward (ignoring the silly dream sequences Anakin has). Lost just showed us that Jack and Kate survived in the future- if the flash forward is to be believed as I already mentioned. Its not like GL done episode 6 first then 4 etc. He took a part of his original plot and started there and condensed them into 3 movies (though originally to be over 6 movies and then add the first 3 later to make it 9 films)- though sometimes I wonder how much this is based on truth. I think he once said that he thought only one Star Wars movie would ever be allowed to be made that he chose the part in his story that he thought was most exciting (and boy was he right after teh PT's). Comparing the way GL made the star wars movies and the way Lost jumps around is like chalk and cheese imo. And showing the future with Jack and Kate alive (if to be trusted) then takes some of the excitement away- yeah- its nice to know what happens in between but we still know they supposedly survive and shouldnt worry too mcuh if they get into sticky moments. GL didnt give us a flash forward in A New Hope to show that Luke helped bring his father back from the darkside (the fact he didnt really have this idea at the time being besides the point i.e. basically no flash forwards etc in SW) and then we watched TESB and ROTJ to see this happen. Ya catch me?

The flash-forwards are clearly being used (if it's true they're now a central part of Lost) because the producers have run out of ideas for the flashbacks, that's been evident for all of season 3...Jack's f/bs: yawn...Kate's: Yawn...Sawyer's: Yawn. You get the picture, the lead character's flashbacks have sucked for a while now and the writers know this, hence here come the flash forwards, which I really don't like the idea of, they could ruin the show!

totally. its just i thought (at least without little deeper thinking) that the flashforward was comparable to eps IV, V, VI insofar as you know what will happen. (may happen)
