LOTR: The Return of the King...Countdown and Discussion Thread

All I can say is that I wish I was seeing it again right now.

I did have some problems with it, but I'm sure 98% of them will be fixed with the EE, since they simply ran out of time. Half the trailer shots weren't even in the movie...ie, Eomer holding Eowyn...Merry swearing fealty..."We shall see the Shire again," "You gave away your life's grace..."

And of course, the changes we knew about, Saruman, and the Houses of Healing. But still, couldn't they have shown the new white tree be planted? And there WERE no women or children at Minas Tirith!! But despite my complaints...I loved it. Cannot wait to see it again.


And did I mention I LOVE Sam? I LOVE SAM...Holy Moses. I need screenshots to draw from...from about 25 different places in ROTK...I love SAM!

 

Now there is two threads open, very confusing... what thread is for what?

 

This seems like it's never going to end. I'm going to see the movie in 5 hours and I want it to be now.

3 hours and 49 minutes and counting...I am watching the Animated Return of the King, which I think is very underrated by the way. Its way better than the soulless Bakshi crap.

 

So, I caught the midnight showing and I must say, I was impressed - even with the differences in the book, it was highly entertaining. Especially when Gandalf beat the crap out of Denethor. It was also moving to listen to Pippen's song during the slaughter of Osgiliath.
You know what kept going through my head while I was watching the climax? Amazing's manual sig line: Frodo dies.

So how does everyone rank the LOTR films now? At this point, I'm ranking them this way:

1. ROTK, 2. FOTR, 3. TTT

That could change with time, but I expect the EE to solidify ROTK's position at #1 on my list. Actually, if it weren't for my knowledge that there would be an EE, I might be less forgiving of some of ROTK's problems (mostly concerning cut scenes).

A little more than 11 hours.

The rough cut of ROTK was reported to be something like 265 minutes. Assuming we get all of that in the EE, the entire EE trilogy should come in at roughly 696 minutes (~11 hours, 36 minutes).

same here bib fortuna, i mean i wanna see it again, i had too much to drink and was holding it in for the last two hours of it!!!!plus i'd like to see it without all my friends their unlike i did today

 

I was smart. I didn't drink or eat anything from 8:00 onwards, and I emptied my bladder around 10:00.

 

Damn. Now that I've seen it, I want to see it again.
