QUI-GON: "Our meeting was not a coincidence. Nothing happens by accident. You are strong with the Force, but you may not be accepted by the Council."
I always just figured that Yoda knew he was coming, so he intentionally guided Luke or his ship, or both towards where he lives. As we soon see, Yoda clearly was prepared for his arrival. I think it's entirely realistic that Yoda could and would do something to ensure Luke doesn't end up on the other side of the planet or something.
My interpretation for a long time has been is that it was the will of the Force that Luke would crash not far from Yoda’s home. I imagine Luke didn’t understand that the Force was guiding him toward a particular direction as he descended into the atmosphere.
One could say that Luke's fate was predetermined from the very beginning. The Force, like an invisible director, guided him according to a certain scenario, preparing him for the meeting with Yoda and future trials.
We know the Force was flowing through Luke and with Yoda's (and R2D2s) guidance, managed to land and land safely compared to what fate others would have had happened to them. The rest of the scenes in Dagobah are done so well in the training part. I'm glad they cut the floating bar scene, but I wonder what were they trying to convey there? Know your surroundings even amongst a slew of Force sensitivity? And what an amazing set, did you know the set was over 2 football fields long?!! And that three people (2 women + Frank) moved Yoda?
Yes, the scenes on Dagobah really do look amazing. By the way, to create this swamp, the film crew had to literally work knee-deep in mud, all for the sake of a realistic atmosphere.
