Luke, Mara, the Force, and Sex in the Expanded Universe (Spoilers Allowed)

What a relief.

I know, I know...that question does not involve enough sex. Sorry.

The fun thing about this thread is we can now find a way to put sex in it.

I have been thinking about the ability to speak through the Force across great distances. Unless I am mistaken, is this a fairly rare occurrence among the Jedi. Or am I wrong? I know a few of Luke?s students were capable of picking up thoughts, but nothing close to the ability that Mara Jade shared with the Emperor and later with Luke. I was also interested in how Mara seems to only be able to communicate through the Force with select people, such as Leia, Luke, and Palpatine.

Let us put aside my previous theory that Leia, Luke, Mara and Palpatine are all blood relatives?.I am pretty sure you all know those theories by now. But what else do these four have in common that is lacking in other Jedi that Mara cannot communicate with?

At first I thought it might be the Darkside of the Force. Luke had brushes with the darkside in DE, Palpatine was the epitome of Evil, and Mara was walking a thin line between the light and dark, but what about Leia? As far as I know she never faltered. She always stayed within the light.

So then I started thinking about their connection to Palpatine. Mara said in a few books that she had a mental connection established with Palpatine at the time of his death. I think when the Emperor perished that connection was reestablished with the only person with a strong Force signature in the room at the time, Luke Skywalker (if Vader was not dying, I think she would have otherwise made the connection with the Dark Lord).

So now Luke and Mara are connected by this Force link. And we both know that Luke and Leia have a special Force connection through their twin bond. I think Mara was able to communicate with Leia in the Thrawn trilogy because Luke was acting as a connection between the two women (sort of like a communication relay station).

So what does this have to do with sex?well nothing, but while I was thinking about this I starting thinking about Jedi sex again and how Luke and Mara?s Force bond appeared to strengthen after they connected with each other physically and emotionally. So I started thinking, ?Why didn?t the Emperor attempt to establish a stronger Force bond with Mara by establishing a physical relationship with her??

We all know that the Emperor enjoyed carnal delights and had many concubines, so why didn?t he have sex with the most beautiful woman in his court?.Mara Jade? And please, do not tell me that he did, McEwok! You know that if Luke saw that little fact while he and Mara had their little Force Epiphany his libido would have quickly shriveled up and died an untimely death. Therefore, in this theory I am assuming there was no sexual relationship between Jade and Palpatine.

So why didn?t the Emperor have a close physical or even emotional relationship with Mara. From what we have seen in the EU, Mara and Luke?s link grew even stronger when they acknowledged their feelings for each other. We know Palpatine is capable of some closeness to others. He is always calling Vader his old friend. Why didn?t he become closer to Mara Jade? Why didn?t he take her to his bed?

I?ll tell you why...because he was scared. I think he knew that if he experienced a stronger bonding with this woman he would never be free. Just look what happened to Luke when he and Mara merged with the Force:

Standing back to back, stretched out so deeply together to the Force, it was as if their minds had literally melded together to become a single entity?..within the depth of that mental rapport, she suddenly and totally knew Luke Skywalker. Knew everything about him: his hopes and fears; his successes and failures; his strengths and weaknesses; his highest joys and his deepest and most private sorrows. She saw into his innermost spirit, to the depths of his heart, to the very core of his being.
And she knew that even as he lay open before her eyes, so also her heart and spirit were open before his.

This Force intermingling of the mind was such a sensual and intimate experience that Luke knew he would be forever connected to Mara

I think you answered your own question AG88. Palpatine knew the dangers of this type of Force Intimacy because he had already experienced it with another...his ?Old Friend?. Luckily for Palpatine, he and Vader had a relationship more like Mr. Garrison and Mr. Slave from South Park than anything else. Because of Vader?s subservient veneration of the Emperor, Palpatine had nothing to worry about, except maybe the whereabouts of his pet gerbils.

 

So Mara gets stronger of having sex with powerful force users, kinda like the girl with corso in the Ninth Gate...
Most interesting and also disturbing, maybe they're actually trying to get rid of each other. The purpose of Ben Skywalker is to kill one of his parents and that's what the upcoming nine-book series will be about!!!

Anyway, Luke is obviously the stronger force user in VotF, but I did not see Mara getting all emotional and proposing to him.

Oh Man!! I read a great fanfic. Mara catches a disease that temporarily turns her into a homicidal nymphomaniac and her target is Luke Skywalker. Does she kill him or bed him?

Anyway, we all know that Daala bedded Tarkin to get her position (it seems she did so repeatedly since she simply adores ole' skin and bones), thus explaining why someone of such blundering incompetence got to command 4 Star Destroyers and be put in charge of defending a top secret research facility.

But then she comes back and with the help of Pellaeon, reunifies what's lef the Empire and forms the Remenant. But why would Pellaeon have done it? She confided in him quite a lot (even mentioning her affair with Tarkin) and the two implicitely trusted each other. Why would Pellaeon help assassinate all the top authorities of the Empire, when he's given half his life to serving in the military, loyally following the orders of his superiors? It's kind of like Thrawn, don't you think? Someone coming back into a fragmented and dying Empire, approaching Pellaeon to help save the Empire, so he forms a freudian connection between Thrawn and Daala (disregard the previous two sentences if you wish ). I theorize that Daala fell back on the only thing that can without a doubt convince a man, sex. She got Pellaeon on board by seducing him (she has a thing for old men anyway ). But then of course, Admiral Bozo once again performs less than abysmally at Yavin, incurring the largest Imperial defeat ever (1 SSD lost, a fleet of ImpStars, who knows how many VicStars, and thousands of soldiers compared to a few Jedi).

She then goes into hiding, "never to be seen again". I wonder whatever happened...

And what of Devis?

That is only because the Emperor was smart enough to keep it at a professional level. If he didn't Mara would quickly have realized she had the old man whipped. The next thing you know Palpatine would be buying her jewelry, a summer home on the lake, and stocking up on Viagra.
