Andor Luthen Rael

I want his green coat. Not as cosplay…just to wear.

 

This whole series so far are full of a "great little moments" and I'm loving it!

 

I was looking forward to his character once he appeared in the trailer for the first time. Definitely not disappointed. Can’t wait for more.

 

I occasionally heard rumors that he was only going to be in one episode, and so I didn’t expect much when he first appeared. But then he’s in the next episode, and I figure maybe he’s gone after he recruits Cassian. But then he survived into yet another episode.

And then I saw the transformation you described and the scene with Mon Mothma. And I saw something so beautifully different that I find difficult to reconcile it with the same universe that also has Gungans, Jedi Rocks, Watto, or B1 Battledroids, and I loved every second of it.

The beginning of the first episode greatly mirrors the opening scene of The Mandalorian in its first episode!

The real star of the show. Stellan Skarsgard is exceptional.
By far the most interesting character so far to me.

 

Loved the little touch of him practicing his bodily and hand movements in his antique dealer disguise.

 

Fantastic character, the way he's weaving through the story has been really enjoyable and far from predictable.

 

So the age-old question has an answer: there're wigs in the SW galaxy.

 

One of the things I particularly liked was how Luthen seemed to genuinely care about Cassian Andor in a sort of stoic way, or at least care about recruiting him, then turns around and tells Vel that Andor is disposable when Andor is out of ear shot. That added another level of grey to me on an already grey character.

Then there was his transformation. I was not expecting that and I loved it! Skarsgard is amazing! I even thought he was fooling Mon Mothma for a second too.

Definitely one of the most interesting SW characters IMO and expertly portrayed by the actor.

 

Wonder are Luthen and Thrawn familiar with each other.

 

I think it's sort of ironic how Andor himself is not nearly as interesting and many other characters in this show.

 

How's he going to die though?

This is Andor so my money's on Cassian topping him.

 

I don't think that's ironic at all. It is consistent with Rogue One, and I had predicted that I will be interested in all the other characters in Andor as well. Well I guess that the irony is that the show is named after him

 

Luthen and Thrawn HAVE to meet and i guess they eventually will!

Stellan was SUPERB in episode 4.

Wonder what Luthen's background is. Republic intelligence? ISB? Criminal? Operative for some random star system's security forces? Separatist even?

We shall find out, Jolee Bindo. I like this guy. I like how he's clever and Stellan gives him both a tough side and a hidden sensitive side. High time we got this guy in Star Wars.

After Ep .05, who is the boss of the art gallery, Luthen or Kleya? It's a cover operation but did Kleya allow Luthen to appear as the boss to fool the Empire?

 

It is unclear as so many other things in this show. I hope they tell more about Luthen, who he is and how he came to be like this.

 

I don't think either is the "boss". They seem to be partners and perhaps even a married couple.

 

initially I was down with Luthen, but lately with him unfavorably describing Andor as ‘disposable’ and ‘the thief’, he’s clearly does not have his best interest. So I agree, Cassian should be the one to take him out.
