    We need more Maul books.

I am confused where Maul: Saboteur by Lucerno takes place.

It takes place shortly before Cloak Of Deception, also by Luceno.

A little random thing I came across...been playing this online game where sometimes it matches me up against these computer-controlled AI players that have randomly-generated names. And one day I come across one named "Curtis Sexton" [face_laugh]

Just got back from seeing GotG 3… all I could think of while watching was
how the OrgoCorp HQ(the OrgoScope) looked like something the Yuuzhan Vong would live/fly in.

    Thoughts?

I like some of this, but I don't like the Maul/Talon stuff really at all. I think Maul's ending in Rebels is ideal. For him to hang around to bother Luke and Leia in their old age is really blah. For him to be finally laid to rest by Obi-Wan, and so compassionately, is the best possible ending for that character.

I like the idea that Luke's reformed Jedi Order also draws upon Order 66 survivors, and I hope Disney rocks with that idea in the future material. I think it makes sense to have the Jedi relatively decentralized though. We know Luke is in contact with Ahsoka, does that mean he also eventually connects with Ezra? Does Cal live passed ROTJ? Who else might be out there for Luke to make contact with and have hidden temples? Will Rey actually have a stronger foundation to work with than Luke did?

Still not sold on the microbiotic world midichlorian stuff. George is George, so it make perfect sense that he would want to do a deep dive on something that fans actually hated instead of just leaving it there as a weird biological marker of Force-sensitivity. Delving into mystical realms and metaphysical planes makes more sense and better viewing than turning Star Wars into Innerspace imp. Granted, we don't know what George means by "microbiotic world," it could have ended up being just a bunch of info dump word salad rather. Which is a really hard sell.

New Republic fights crime isn't as strong a selling point, or frankly quite as politically timely as Resistance fights neo-fascists. Whatever gripes one might have Empire redux, you can't deny that the fight against the First Order came to theaters just as the US and other Western countries are struggling against a neo-fascist political wave. Which has definitely contributed to some of the controversy around the ST, and the whole "Star Wars is too political now" rhetoric coming out of some quarters.

Do we necessarily want Star Wars, a film franchise at its core a series about the struggle against tyranny, to be uncontroversial in such times? I don't think so.

I consider the entire First Order/Resistance set up to be pretty wretched in it’s laziness, so Maul and his criminal empire sounds like it would have been a great alternative.

Lucas's fixation on "microbiota exists!" as this inherently interesting plot point is still like the single weirdest thing about him post-TPM.

Pardon the return to the perennial discussion of Star Wars YouTubers, but... do any EckhartsLadder viewers have thoughts on his content taking a hard swing toward the negative? I've never watched his stuff, but was always under the impression that he was more on the Alex Damon (i.e. generally positive) side of the Star Wars fandom. Recently, clickbaity titles like "Star Wars fans are going to hate this" and "This was a MASSIVE fail for Disney Star Wars" have been showing up on my suggested videos. What's with the vibe shift? I suppose outrage fuels clicks is the droid I'm looking for.

I can't think of any reason other than sheer masochism to watch any Star Wars YouTuber, TBH. That whole ecosystem is rotten to the core.

Forcecenter is pretty good in terms of positivity, though I suspect an existential crisis is looming for them now that’s it’s become clear that the Mandoverse is going to be borrowing heavily from the EU.

Good to know — haven’t heard of them. SWE is the only channel I ever watch, and even then it’s just occasionally. But apparently that’s enough for the YouTube algorithm to suggest garbage.

The Forececenter guys are pretty good friends with SWE, so they’re on a similar wavelength in terms of positivity. They tend to break down and discuss the ideas and themes in a given SW thing, so it’s usually a pretty interesting and thoughtful experience.

Though the caveat is that they really dislike the EU and seem to struggle whenever canon storytelling references that stuff, so they’re not entirely positive.

That's been going on for a while now, really. I sadly unsubscribed from his channel about three years ago, around the time he was making videos like "The dumb reasons Coruscant is MISSING from Disney Star Wars" and so on.

On the topic of positive YouTube channels, for pure wholesome content the Father. Son. Galaxy. channel can't be beat. As the title implies, it's basically a father sharing his love of Star Wars with his sons, and it's about as heartwarming as it sounds. He also manages to score some pretty cool interviews, despite not having a huge number of views.

Hmm, a smaller channel but doesn't act like an arse online so gets high profile interviews? Damnit, what could his secret be?

Does anyone else collect and train with LED lightsabers?

I've had a couple Force FX sabers from Master Replicas for a long time, but a few years ago I bought a blind bag saber from Ultra Sabers.

2 years ago I bought the Classic Hero(Luke's ROTJ saber) from Rebel Savers. I messed up and used charger with too much voltage and burned out the electronics last winter. Rebel Sabers customer service was really great at getting it fixed, when it was returned at the actual LED light gmhad damaged wiring, they replaced it for me promptly.

They sell a modified version called the Modern Hero without the big control box, and I thought "hey, it would be nice to be able to switch back and forth from Classic to Modern for display and use." I messaged Rebel Sabers to see if it would be possible to do that, and they got back to me quickly and are sending me the part to make it possible!

Really happy with the company and my lightsaber. Plan to get a couple for my kids in the future.

Rereading the Bane trilogy for the first time in forever...
Chapter 12 in Rule of Two is one of the best things ever written[face_laugh]
The entire fight between Johun and the terrorists would make an AWESOME movie scene.

So, I watched another stupid short video on YouTube, thinking because it had Jedi Survivor footage it would be cool... But it was some dummy claiming crossguard lightsabers go against "unspoken lore" from Legends(not sourced) that lightsabers generate a magnetic ic field around the welder's hand preventing casual disarmament.

How many people that get worked up about lore changes are just made about something they made up?

Legends had lightwhips and double bladed lightsabers before Canon! Before Maul! Legends also had a Jedi master with a small angled blade acting as a kind of guard in the original Clone Wars comics long before Kylo Ren had a full crossguard!
