Honestly, that whole thing just strikes me as one more example of how badly thought-out and used the Lost Tribe were in FOTJ. It's not that there couldn't be anything interesting done with the concept, because the JJM short stories did it by treating Kesh and its culture as a thing worth exploring in its own. But in the series they were actually invented for (!) the only purpose seemed to be to inject the narrative several thousand random new Sith who were the exact same as any other Sith, except that they sucked.

(Which is admittedly a recurring thing throughout Legends - it's always kind of amused me how the Rule of Two literally made the "law of conservation of ninjutsu" into an actual in-universe thing).

This made me laugh more than it should have...

 

I wonder if it's a good or bad thing that upon seeing this story, I immediately thought of this forum: A surfboard-stealing sea otter is on the run.

 

I might sound like a broken record by saying this, but I wish the Star Wars shows/movies (though the shows would have more opportunity to, of course) would have more obscure aliens. Not even old EU, book/comic only aliens, but like the podracers from The Phantom Menace. Something that we've seen before, but only once or twice in the background of a shot.

There's some cool designs, and they don't get used as much as they should. At least in my opinion. I mean, I like Twi'leks and Rodians and Mon Calamari as much as the next person but having another onscreen Chevin, Troig, Yuvernian, or even a Xamster would be wonderful, and provide some much welcome diversity.

But maybe I'm just too much of a nerd when it comes to background stuff, what do I know? XD

 

Pablo did manage to sneak a few old species into the Disney films via retcons. A sort of "generic old man" alien from TFA was later established to be Trinto Duaba from ANH, while another alien from Canto Bight became a Xi'Dec. And Ugors showed up in Solo thanks to that movie's Official Guide. It's not much, but it's something!

My personal "alien holy grail" is a Morseerian. One of them popped up in a Resistance episode and that was cool, but I'm dying to see a Morseerian in live action once again. Thankfully we live in an era where that's entirely possible, so hope springs eternal!

 

Yeah, I have to agree. I certainly don't mind a bunch of new aliens (The Phantom Menace introduced like 40 of them) but seeing some known designs would have been welcomed.

Morseerians have a dope design, not gonna lie.

Heck, even the recent shows have, for some reason, some interesting alien designs who show up in the background for one brief shot, that I would like to see more prominently.

They revealed a Black Series Pre Vizsla at SDCC. Is this our first take on a "realistic" portrayal of the character? (Looks awesome either way. Hopefully I can actually find him ).

I watched a little bit into the first season, having never read the books or played the games.

I liked it, a tricky thing though is that (at least in the episodes I saw) the different storylines take place at different times, but the show doesn't immediately tell you that so that could be potentially confusing.

 

Easily the biggest weakness of s1 is its not signposted chronology jumps.

 

As much as you like, you're guaranteed to have at least one of his songs running through your head.
