Well I guess that’s case closed then. Except that people having quibbles with one of the OT movies doesn’t undermine the point I made about how the OT is regarded in comparison to the other trilogies.

 

When you buy a 3-piece buttermilk chicken tenders and 1 of them is a microwaved sea slug you probably don’t think fondly of the 3-piece as a whole, even if the two that were actually chicken were crispy and delicious

 

I like the analogy, but your observation missed the point that I made. Which wasn’t that everyone loves all aspects of the OT. It’s that the prequels & sequels are divisive & are outright hated by large sections of the fanbase. Regardless of your thoughts on ewoks, if you’re a SW fan the overwhelming likelihood is that you like or love the originals. I’m not seeing anyone claim that they’ll exclude those movies from future saga viewings. Whereas fans are clearly going to take or leave the other trilogies, depending on personal preference. Which is just a continuation of what’s been happening for the past 20 years.

Well, in this particular thread everyone is going to exclude all Star Wars movies from all future saga viewings, due to the fact that Star Wars was, is, and ever shall be bad, but now I get what you are saying and I probably mostly agree, although some of the younger fans I know like the originals less simply because they feel more like “old movies” than the prequels, and they like the sleek sophistication of the sequels the best

 

The prequels are, objectively speaking, the best SW movies that ever existed, or ever will exist.

 

Objectively speaking Star Wars is a franchise with multiple films.








All of which are terrible.

 

Objectively speaking, all films are nothing more than still photographs shown in quick succession.

 

They don’t exist. Years of meditative therapy has convinced me of that. I’ll thank you not to undo any of it.

 

1995? That was more than a decade later. In 1983, I didn't know anybody who thought RotJ sucked.

 

It takes a long time to write a book, and a lot of motivation and familial support and sacrifice, especially when you are including a list with fifty (50) entries.

 

Oh please, I can rattle off 50 reasons Return of the Jedi sucks right off the top of my head.

1. It's Star Wars.
2.-49. See 1.
50. Ewoks.

Yeah, but a list like yours doesn’t get repeat customers returning to Borders Books and Music to work their way through the list. Plus, a list like yours doesn’t visually convey the full badness of Star Wars, whereas a list that occupies a dozen or more printed pages is damning as an evidentiary apparatus. When you flip through page after page, you break into a cold sweat as you think, what if they’re right? What if Star Wars is bad?!

Back in the early 90s, among my grade and high school friends, I recall that
1) ROTJ was our least favorite SW movie
2) BTTF 3 was our least favorite BTTF movie.
3) And Temple of Doom was our least favorite IJ movie.

To this day, I'd probably still rank them "ESB, ANH, ROTJ", and all other SW content aft that as those three will always be first in my heart before anything that has come out after 1983.

They already made the cinematic adaptations of that book. It was called Star Wars.

the issue also included something like Twenty reasons Jedi didn’t suck.

 

I initially read that URL as Film the Rat, and I was all on board for signing up for the project.

A two hour documentary about the life of an average sewer rat sounds infinitely less like raw, unfiltered sewage than a Star Wars movie.

 

Uh, it's obviously a demand for a film adaptation of Günter Grass's Die Rättin which was released in English as The Rat.
