Sorry about my first poll. I am a 14-year-old filmmaker who just finished a Star Wars Fan Film. I own a student version of 3DS Max 6 and Adobe After Effects. I am currently working on a sequel to my first film. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to create a fantastic shot of the city of Coruscant?

Are you looking for a large shot or something to go like between the buildings and such?

I'd say get some models together and create a cityscape then animate that with how you want the camera motion. Then take a backdrop and do a little camera matching and composite the two together.

    What film did you do?

Well, if you are first starting to do 3D stuff, I would really recommend not doing a coruscant shot. It's really hard to do, and so complex, and if it doesn't look just right then it doesn't look good at all.

If you still want to try it, then render it in layers, first make the full shot, then seperate it into sections based on the position in relation to the camera, like things that are in the back should be grouped together and so on. Then the back section, then render the section in front of it with the rendering of the back as the environment background.

This way, it won't freeze up your computer and you can still get some good results.

I haven't submitted my first film because it didn't turn out the way I wanted. The animation was fine but I had to use a fraction of the script because of time. It made the film hard to follow.

By the way, I've been animating for over a year and a half.
