lets see, Divac had 11 points in game 6, & Shaq had 41. hmmm, how intresting.

let's see. Shaq has about a 100 pounds on Divac and had about 10 dunks and 5 layups because he can just outpower everyone and get to the basket.

man his skill impresses me [face_plain]

maybe the kings should get the Rock to guard him next year.

yeah, Shaq is worthless & Divac is the best center in the NBA. There's more to the Lakers than Shaq. [face_plain]

I guess we can't really blame the officials or the NBA for what they have let the Lakers get away with.

The people that should really be blamed are the fans of the Lakers. If you did'nt have all these WWF fans that love Shaq, the refs and league would'nt allow him to play the way he does.

    Again with the what ifs...

How about some facts in here on centres? Too much to ask. How's the Admiral been going the last few years with another superstar? Also note that he's retiring after next season. O'Neal has only gotten stronger since the addition of Bryant.

Patrick Ewing... Hakeen Olajuwan... O'Neal is outlasting them all at this rate.

More consistent isn't really good enough when I asked for a perfectly consistent system. It's a human element and there will always be mistakes.

Did you read those articles I posted the links to wedge?

These are very very respected journalists that are not biased to any party.

They both say that regardless of the reasons why, the system has totally collapsed.

I don't care if Hemmingway wrote them. Why are the Lakers to blame for bad refs?

You're missing the point. I never asked for a perfect system because that is impossible. Humans make mistakes.

The officiating in the NBA however cannot be explained by "human error" because of the fact that they make so many mistakes and the are thoroughly inconsistent in the ones that they make.

Shaq runs over Divac and no foul.
Webber touches Horry and it is a foul.
Iverson gets touched by Allen and it's a foul.
Robinson gets hammered by Mutombo and there is no call.

    etc, etc...

If the officiating in the NBA is on par with other leagues in terms of how good it is then how come every single year there is a huge controversy over it??

    Last year it was Sixers-Bucks.
    This year it is Lakers-Kings.

Doesn't happen in any other league?

So why is the NBA so bad? Can you defend it?

Bring some better arguments than no officiating is perfect. Because we both know that perfect officiating is impossible.

And we also know that compared to every other sport in the world, the NBA has the worst officiating. Not just this series - but overall.

I'm not blaming the Lakers for bad refs. Forget this series. I'm talking NBA officiating as a whole.

Can you honestly say that the NBA has good officiating? Can you?

I never said they were to blame. It just is not right.

As I said the Lakers fans sould be blamed for this mess. The same ones that riot everytime the Lakers win.

All the Shaq-bashers criticise him because of his size and strength... but if you were his size, would you play any different? He displays skill because he uses his size to his benefit. He would be stupid to play any different, given his physical presense.

And believe it or not, the man has skill. He also has dedication and commitment. To those who criticise him, do you really think he's the only guy on this planet who has his physical features? No way. There's probably thousands of other guys his weight and height... but they're obviously not playing competitive basketball.

Shaq dominates the game like no one else in the league. No matter what, he'll go down as one of the greats.

We've had the Finals. Three Peat, Lakers.

Hey dont get me wrong Shaq is incredibly strong.

If Shaq played football i would be his biggest fan.

He doesnt though the things they let him get away with ruin the game.

    RE: Refs

You're exactly right. It's been going on for years. Why's it being brought up so much this year?

    Trendy Laker bashing.

And epic, you're exactly right too.

Say what you want, but his name will never be spoken in the same sentencee with legends like Jordan, Magic, Isiah and Bird.

Kobe has that potential, but Shaq - no.

If Shaq has dedication and commitment how come he doesnt ride that exercise bike and lose some pounds.

If Shaq was in good shape and had skill with his size and the things they let him get away with he could easily get 50 points a night.

So now the excuse for Shaq being bad is that he could be even better?

From what it looks like it'd be better if he didn't hop on the bike, it gives other teams at least a chance of beating the Lakers.

The same reason the Lakers get away with what they do is the same reason Jessie Ventura is Governor of Minnesota.

    Wrestling is ruining the country.

And I'm niether a wrestling fan or an American. So it looks like you can't blame me for the refs problems either.

I am sure you share the same mentality though.

I can tell by your disregard for reality.

The fact that you could read those article and still be here acting as if the Lakers deserve an NBA championship proves that.

That is the point.. they never had a chance in this series the way it was officiated.

    Not this time.

If WWF fans such as yourself realized these things and had any sense of self respect maybe it would not be this way.

Don't forget in game 3, when Horry hit the game winner to give the Lakers a 1 point win, right before the 1st half they counted a 3-point shot by Samaki Walker that was clearly after the buzzer. It was not the first miss-called buzzer-beater in the playoffs, but it was the first and only that changed the victor of the game.

    Bah. Go Nets! :D

A little reality for yourself... the Lakers know they did not deserve this win and so does everyone else besides WWF Lakers fans.

That alone is enough for me. :)
