ST Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) in Episode VII

Here's a very recent pic.
Gotta say, though he looks loads better than he did a year ago he's not exactly in tip top shape.
Compare that to this:


And Ford's 72 years old, though he's stayed in shape for most of his life it seems.

Nothing bad to say about Mark of course, loosing weight is no easy task.
Just I had hoped Luke would be in great shape so he could kick some real ass again.

 

TheBBP, not to get off topic but do you know what characters will be used in Rebels, the comics, the new books, and VII? Please IM me to discuss. I only know the rumors and would like to know for sure one way or the other. Thanks.

As for the shooting here with Luke, I don't think it is at the end or as a Force Ghost since his hair and beard are long. If the rumored plot of him missing is true, this is probably when she finds him. I could see her finding him and Luke taking her inside where she sees Luke's students, thus beginning her own path to training.

Ford may be a bit slimmer, but its not by a large margin. Mark has a bit more weight to him for sure, but he's also younger so I am sure he could still manage a decent lightsaber fight. If Alec Guiness, Ian McDiarmid, and Sam Jackson pulled off it off - so can Mark.

I'm surprised at the lack of faith in him to be honest.

The real question is - will Mark even have a fight scene in this movie, and if he does, will he simply use the Force to defeat his enemies? I'm hoping for lightsaber action AND the Force.

Another question really is who will he be fighting? Id hate to think Kasdan and Abrams will have him lose easily, and esp to an enemy less powerful than Palpatine and Vader as I'd be surprised if we find our heroes fighting against more powerful enemies.

I would hope that IF Luke goes out its simply by his design - sacrificing himself so everyone can live.

Of course I really hope Luke will be active and have a good fight in the movie, but I just can't picture Mark doing much else than Guiness Obi Van with the shape he's in, at least while looking believable.
I was really hoping they'd go a different route with him than the old jedi in robes, but it sure looks like that's the way it's going.
Him being the next Obi Van just seems like the easy cliche way out.

He's just wearing a bit more loose clothes there, it hides his belly.
But I feel bad for saying that when he's done so well and lost so much weight, I'm sure he'll do great in the movie!

 

Well I doubt he'll be shirtless in the movie. He's gonna look great in his Jedi clothes, whatever they may be.

Since they seem to be using a lot of design elements and concepts from around the OT production, it might be cool if they use another old concept. One of the original concepts for the founding of the Jedi was that they were founded by "the Skywalker" who taught his 12 children. What if that's how the Jedi Order gets restarted. Luke hasn't been seen in 30 years because he has been training his 12 children as the foundation for the new Jedi Order. Luke takes his niece inside the buildings on SM where she meets her cousins (with Dom being one).

 

There is nothing to argue. If it hits the movies, TCW, Rebels or the upcoming novels and comics, then it is canon. Until then, it is not. Please quit trying to argue it.

 

No one has ever complained that Obi-Wan Kenobi "looked old" in Episode 4. Sheesh, people.

 

There's no magical rule that just because you're getting up there in years you automatically get fat and out of shape.
It's perfectly doable to be fit even as an older person (as long as your health is with you of course) it just takes effort.

 

Of course not, but I was hoping Luke would get a more active role than just the next old jedi master.

Agreed, and I wasn't arguing. I merely stated an opinion to counter another opinion. As simple as that. I just thought you had a source that knew for sure since you seemed certain.
