Do you think he'll hug his son, or will he be cold and distant like my stepdad?

    ok you're right.

I can say a few things more about the book: First, as is apparent from thatspectacular cover, the book features Vader and Palpatine. It also features a character who I’m not allowed to name just yet, but who appeared in The Clone Wars animated series. In terms of where it fits in the timeline, Lords of the Sith is set after the Revenge of the Sith film and before the forthcoming Rebels television show.

    ok.

so lords of the sith has ashoka, ventress, or another female from tcw.
a new dawn has hera from rebels.
heir to the jedi also has an unknown female.

We don´t know if TCW character of Lords of the Sith is a female, that only applies to Heir to the Jedi. With the first one it only says it will feature a character of TCW. Taking into account the book is about the Sith Lords, the most logical choices should be Maul or Bane, IMO.

I hope the movie is just about unknown females trying to regain their identity - therefore becoming "known"...

"It is known..." - dothraki handmaiden circa 1128

I'm just wondering if this female character has to be a rebel, couldn't it be his mother's sister? Since she is already a canon character and it retcons why Luke never asks about his mother in the films, he's only ever interested in his father.

Luke did ask Leia about his mother in RotJ. Remember that he asked her to tell him about his "real mother'.

Right, and you can tell the sorrow in his voice when he says, "I have no memory of my mother. I never knew her". So to me, that sounds like he's given her a good deal of thought.

I agree. You're right that there's sorrow in his voice, and I would say longing too. It's clear he wishes he had memories of her.

Also the mother Leia is talking about that was always so sad is not their real mother - the person she is speaking of would have been Bail Organa's wife.

No. Luke specifically asked her if she remembered her real mother. She was talking about Padme.

Okay, before I wrote you this - I actually pulled my DVD of Jedi and listened to the scene. Leia says she only "remembers a little bit, she died when I was very young, just images really- feelings, she was very beautiful and kind, but sad."

I don't wish to argue -- but most people have their first real memory at like 3 or 4 years of age --- maybe 2 years old. That's why I said she was talking about Bail's wife. Simply because Padme died giving birth to the twins.

Now Leia does say she remembers images - now if you want to take that as images from a Force link shared before Padme had the kids - I will agree with that.

Also when Luke says tell me about your real mother --- the audience does not know that Padme died in childbirth --- nor does Leia yet know why he is asking or that they are related. We also don't know what information was ever given to her about her birthright by Bail. There's a big question that's never been answered.

Anyway -- that's my 2 credits on the situation.

Regardless, LUKE meant their real mother, because he knew they were twins and that HER real mother would also be HIS real mother. Lucas messed that one up when he had Padme die right after giving birth.

I agree they messed this up. They didn't have a background story for their mother when they made ep6. It wasn't pieced together well when they killed Padme in child birth. That said I'll accept the force as the reason she has memories of her mother.

Yes, I guess we have to accept the Force as the reason. The silly thing though is that Lucas had Luke born first, closest to Padme when she died, and crying hysterically when she died. So, it should have been Luke who had the baby memory of their mother, NOT Leia.

Not trying to talk about character looks. But the other night I showed a picture of what Luke looks like now to my 5yo son. He said no thanks. Lol. I think he looks great for an old Jedi Master.

I don't think those same "rules" generically apply in the GFFA, much less to beings strong in the Force.

The whole Leia-remembers-her-mother-through-the-Force is somewhat of a stretch, and obviously having Padme die a few years later would have made that scene more sound.

But it was the lesser of two evils IMO, a remedy of a mistake made in the early 80s. Since Leia was never intended originally to be Luke's sister, her being wedged into that position caused some plot issues even back then. Namely why would any mother chose to raise one child, but give away the other? Separating the twins for their safety made sense, but it wouldn't have made any sense for the biological mother to raise either one of them if safety was the main concern. It set Padme up to look pretty bad and I imagine eventually Lucas decided that he just didn't want to tempt painting Padme in that light.

The remedy? Lean hard on the idea that Leia didn't really have any true memories, just "feelings" and "images" and lean hard on the idea that Leia is more naturally sensitive in the force for "feelings", throw in Yoda's explanation of the Force and being able to see in the past/friends long gone, and BOOM, you have Padme not looking like worst-parent-of-the-year and an in-universe explanation as to why Leia has "images/feelings" of her mother while Luke does not.

I know the ROTS novel attempts to explain this more as they describe Leia, right after birth, as memorizing her mother's face.
