I wonder if ‘clipping the branches’ in this Loki show involves essentially destroying those new universes?
Spoiler This is something that got chewed on quite a bit after the first trailer when that same figure (opposite the Loki we know) appeared. From some of the leaked set photos that is... Spoiler .... Sophia Di Martino's character. The popular conjecture, based on her costume, is that she's playing a female variant of Loki.
Watching Endgame and hearing all the arguments about time travel, my conclusion is that no one in the MCU really knows how it works. Everyone is just taking their best educated guesses and hoping it will all work out. Which also happens to keep all the possibilities open to the writers of future shows.
Cap returned the stones so those timelines didn't collapse in on themselves but whatever timeline he landed in with Peggy he can still fix everything and make sure HYDRA/Snap never happens. So whatever timeline Loki is in or if they're overseers of multiple timelines so he's an outlier, basically a timeline variant with no set future, which is why they can use him for their own purposes.
I'm at a coin toss as to which it really is, but ... Spoiler ... there is a blink-and-you-miss-it shot of a skrull in the trailer. I blinked every time I watched it and would never have caught it without it being pointed out. Two word hint: track suit.
Re Spoiler cat or flerken. I am thinking flerken for three reasons, 1) it seems to know Loki can be a problem, 2) the paper pusher worships the cat (Picture on the mug) which could mean the cat is the boss, and 3) It looked like a C.G.I. Cat (rendered) which could mean flerken. Ha,ha a skrull - nice catch
Spoiler As for the CGI look ... it's a cat. If you're wanting specific kinds of behavior for a scene it's probably cheaper to just CGI the bugger rather than doing the 50 or so takes you'd need to finally get what you wanted out of a cat. As an aside that scene reminded me of my old Everquest days. There was a hidden room in the dungeon Befallen where one of the programers had tiled a picture of their cat all over the walls. One of the nameless unknown minions behind the workings of the world really loved their cat.
@Bilbo Fett I stated CGI because Spoiler the flerken was CGI when it had to be alien, and it moved as if it was clearly on the up and up about Loki. I get what you’re saying, but I was talking more about the way Spoiler flerkens move that makes them not cats.
Yeah, we've been kind of spoiled with WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuting back-to-back, and so it feels like there's a void of MCU content until the Loki series drops. Black Widow would have filled the void if it weren't pushed back to July. Honestly though, Loki is my least anticipated release from Disney+ because the premise of the series feels like DC's Legends of Tomorrow with shades of Quantum Leap. Additionally, at this point I can't see down the road that the Loki series is on in comparison to WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I mean, I knew WandaVision would tie into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier would setup the new Captain America. There's the upcoming new series in Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, What If and Secret Invasion that will introduce new characters and expand the MCU in different directions. I'm sure Loki will be an awesome show and sure to watch it, but I'm looking more forward to the other MCU Disney+ series.
7 weeks a long time? Naaaah. We’re getting three movies (four if you count Spider-Man), and at least two more Marvel shows for the rest of 2021. That’s awesome! June 11th will be here soon. I am more interested in What If...? than Loki. I’ll watch Loki at some point, especially for Flerken TVA employee... but I digress.
There's a Star Wars series (Bad Batch) debuting in the interim (beginning on May 4th), so that maybe why there's such a gap between TFATWS and Loki.
You'e probably right from a D+ perspective- they would probably not want them streaming at the same time. But I think SSP is probably right from an MCU perspective- they intended TFATWS to be Mar/Apr, Black Widow to be May, Loki to be Jun/Jul and What If? to be Aug/Sept going right into Shang-Chi, leaving (I assume) Ms Marvel for Sept/Oct, Eternals for Nov and Spider-Man for Dec (while Book of Boba Fett chills into place for the rest of Dec/Jan as they ready Moon Knight until Thor and Doctor Strange hit in Feb & Mar). We just get a little overlap in the summer now, due to BW's delay.
The more the merrier...and I hope Moon Knight airs in Loki’s time frame next year Spoiler Due to the Thor 4 villain Gorr the God Butcher I do not think 7 weeks is long at all, we had to wait well over a year plus for Wandavision.
Oh man, Tom Hiddleston was born to play Loki. He brings so much to that character. I'd say as much as Robert Downey, Jr., brought to Tony Stark. I mean, as a self promoter and grandiose as Loki is, he does it in a very likeable and non-cheesy way; very Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson like when he's in the ring with the mic in his hand. People just eat it up. And the pair Hiddleston with Owen Wilson who's excellent at expository narration and spectacular at stating the obvious. That trailer increased my anticipation for the Loki series.
I love you and your voice (I like my villainous Loki, don't be too heroic). Since I still have D+ (paid for a year), of course I'm watching this and very prepared to be disappointed again.
Noble of them to announce that they hate anyone in the eastern time zone that has to work a normal schedule Thursdays.
Marvel wants to take advantage of the social media hype in the middle of the week instead the end of it. This move to Wednesdays makes me feel like Loki is going to have a huge amount of "water cooler" talk.
