The title on the poster apparently has been changed on ticketing websites like Fandango as well, and the cast changing the posters on video like Sebastian Stan. although it probably won't be an official entitled more like Edge of Tomorrow / Live Die Repeat thing. Spoiler tagging but seems pointless. I think Marvel marketing wants this "New" title out Spoiler The asterisk actually works both ways, if you think about it!
Yeah that new-title poster is out on AMC, Regal, and Fandango app listings, but actual film is still titled TB*.
It's a good strategy to mess with the title and drum up interest to get more people in seats, but I'm glad I went opening day so I got to experience it without spoilers even though someone said early on in this thread they thought it might be Spoiler The Dark Avengers which I don't know what that is but I assume it's a comic book reference.
Basically Spoiler post Civil War Thunderbolts team led by Norman Osborn (in Iron Patroit suit!) became the New Avengers to the public but the book was called Dark Avengers, I honestly thought it was going to be Dark Avengers but New Avengers was a thing too and fits better. No Norman, Venom, or messed up Speedball / Penance on this team. And Sentry first Avengers apperance was in New Avengers #1 (and he ripped Carnage in half in space!)
It's because Sebastian Stan couldn't tell them to change it. He has more things to do for now: Spoiler https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJR_qZss5sP/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== T2Q EDIT- swapping twitter link for IG link
Spoiler The only odd thing about going with New vs Dark is that the post-Ultron-era of Avengers were unofficially the New Avengers in the MCU. But I can see how you couldn't go with Dark as a public PR thing in-universe like it is in TB.
Honestly, I was really upset we didn't have a scene of Yelena making mac and cheese sadly and eating it while the guinea pig watched or something.
I watched it again, now that I knew I was looking at more of a "Breakfast Club Heroes" type of film focused on their relationships. It made me realize a heartwarming and hilarious thing at the same time: Spoiler Yelena is Everyone's Baby Sister - the one "precious" member of the group everyone likes, cares for, and gets sensitive with and/or about, and who can kind of get away with stuff they won't tolerate in each other otherwise... and the one member who, if threatened, compels everyone to immediate, possibly desperate action. Val can make fun of them and the only reaction she'll get is John wanting to shoot her (...which we all know he wanted to do anyway), but hearing Yelena tear them a new one genuinely stuns them. And when Yelena sacrifices herself to the "shadow realm", Ava's willing to dive in after her almost unprompted, while John's willing to back her up in saying/pretending there was a purpose to it. ...And when a mind room goes full Poltergeist on Yelena and Bob... Every Other Thunderbolt: "I will **** this room's **** up!" Seriously, John just smacking the wall with his bent shield has serious "big brother" energy.
Variety has an article with the director where he talks about unused shame room ideas and confirms that the post-credits scene was filmed about 4 weeks ago by the Russo Brothers after Doomsday began production.
I will be the Stick in the mud here I haven't seen T-Bolts* yet, not sure if I will theatrically, but I appreciate what they are doing with the characterizations. Spoiler Wait, Sam Wilson is suing over the name Avengers? And yet Bucky is on this team? Is that how Jennifer Walters or Matt Murdock arrive on the scene, as his lawyer?
I mean, I just have to say, the difference between how interesting and charismatic Pugh's Widow is compared to Scarjo is night and day
Very cool* how quick Marvel rolled out the updated marketing. I was going to go see this sometime later this week to avoid getting spoiled as I'd heard the asterisk thing was actually sort of a big reveal. Now they revealed it before I could go see it and I can save $20 and three plus hours. *not actually cool
The "New" title is basically a marketing stunt Spoiler huh there's actually a new Avengers movie? Probably sold a few more tickets that way
I'm gonna be honest, that's not really much of a spoiler. This group is being called The Avengers in-universe? Okay? It's obvious that these characters are all going to be considered part of The Avengers within the Doomsday movie.
It's a far more complicated thing since Spoiler Sam Wilson filed a suit to keep the copyright of the name Avengers. See the video below That's not a joke go and see all the Avengers social media channels. The name is indeed copyrighted Spoiler Word on the street is that the Thunderbolts Spoiler are trying to get the copyright on the name New Avengers
It doesn’t spoil the movie. It’s an amusing marketing gimmick (that everyone suspected for months) in and out of universe that is only present in the epilogue and end credits. It doesn’t affect the actual movie plot. If you removed it, it wouldn’t change the film at all.
Yeah, but the only reason I go to the theater these days is if I’m trying to preserve some element of surprise, and that, however irrelevant to the plot, seemed to be the biggest surprise this movie had in store. I’ll wait for the digital rental to become available now.
I mean, I go to the theater if a movie is a significant enough event where I and other people want to watch it together.
Don’t read the music credits in the film if you want to avoid all the spoilers about the end credits scene. There’s also a good chance you’ve already been spoiled by other things.
