How come in Zion they have a huge fleet of flying warships, but people like Neo and Trinity seem to walk around in frayed T-shirts and torn sweaters?

If you can build and anti-gravity aircraft, surely you've got some people who are good with a needle and thread.

They are deep undergroud. Rare metals and other technological resources are probably common, whereas sheep and cotton bushes are probably in short supply.

The whole twist of Reloaded seems like something someone overstoned would come up with. "Dude, what if this wasn't real and our brains are being fed signals to think it's real and then we figure it out and escape ONLY what we escape to isn't real either....whoa...dude pass the joint"

What is so deep and mind bending about that really? To me it seems like the bros were trying too hard to make it so bizarre that it becomes irrelevant. It becomes so convoluted that you have simply end up saying "who cares then". I think the original Matrix was just interesting and bizarre enough to work. But this takes it too far and really looses the meaning.

Other than that it started way too slow and the kung-fu was unimaginative and way too overly choreographed. The fx were good enough but there was no sense of danger. Even with trinity's "death" scene you weren't even once considering that she was going to die.

The fight scenes were amazing. And the freeway -- enough said. It'll be hard to top, but I'm sure they will in the next one.

Those are very reasonable criticisms. :)

For some silly reason, I still find this movie entirely fascinating from beginning to end.

They have technology to make ships and those little robot things and such, but no tech to make syntethic fibers for clothes???

I feel sad for the humans of Zion. Really, the machines killing them would be a blessing.

    :p

If the bros wrote the prequels Anakin would walk into a room where Palpatine is sitting. Then in a flat droning voice Palpatine would tell him that if he doesn't go bad and help wipe out all the Jedi then his unborn son won't be able to grow up to destroy the Empire.

Then he, obi wan, padme and Jar Jar would all grind together in a dirty Coruscant nightclub.

And Darth Vader would defeat the Jedi using Kung fu while swinging his lightsaber but not actually using it on anyone.

If the Bros wrote the PT...hmmm....I can see it now...

Obi Wan: We are Jedi, and we are not afraiiiid!!!!

Sorry, but Morpheus' Heston-like speech leaves me laughing!!! [face_laugh]

Hmmm...and perhaps the Clone Wars will be about the Chosen One fighting thousands of Fett clones.

Fett: Me! Me me me me me!

    Fett Clone: Me too!

    :p

"Any thoughts on Persephone's role for Revolutions. I saw her on the trailer as well."
No but this brang back the trailer and the role of the minor characters in reloaded as we see Seraph doing some major ass-kicking.
I cannot wait until Revolutions. Hopefully it won't have a "previously in the Matrix..." thing at the start as I hate those things in TV and movies.

While we are pointing out clothing I will chime in with this. Why is it that everyone is so dirty except the door operators who were dressed in pristine white uniforms...

Here is a thought...Smith is now free, but is he seeking revenge, or does he want out of the matrix?? He said something that he wanted out in the first movie. Now he is trying to join with people. Do you think that Neo will join with him ala Star Trek The Motion Picture to create a new lifeform...next step for humans (man and machine combine). Even the Oracle mentioned something like the solution is "together". Remember when Neo said when Smith first tried to get into him it felt like the hallway in the first movie...he felt like dying. But what really happened in the first movie. After he got shot, he evolved a bit and became the one. Maybe this is the next step?

    Thoughts?

Bane, you might be on to something. After all the theme of merging to create a new lifeform is something that can be found in practically EVERY SINGLE manga and anime and since the Wachowskis took a lot of inspiration from those it might well happen

If you watch closely you will see that the lady dressed in white is actually plugged into a vitrual control system. They switch between her in all white and her in the Zion world in her chair connected to the computer.

I don't think I caught that myself. I'll be sure to watch for it on the next viewing.

Any thoughts on the Oracle herself?

A lot of comments seem to indicate that people think of her as benevolent, and certainly she does no harm to Neo directly, but is she really helping him?

The fact that she has a bodyguard, and used the cloak&dagger means of setting up the meeting suggests that the Agents possibly consider her as an 'exile' like the Keymaker. It would even explain to some extent the "Please" uttered by the Architect (altough I suspect there's more than 1 possible reason for that dismissal).

As benevolent as she seems to be, it seems to me that she does her part in directing Neo to the meeting with the Architect, where he must make his choice. Does she do this in the hopes that he will reinstall the code and begin the cycle over again? She is just an 'intuitive program' after all, and wouldn't she want self-preservation?

However, could it be that her core program, to study and understand human behavior, has caused her to become sympathetic to their cause? It's so hard to tell. She doesn't give away much to reveal what's motivating her.

Remember also that it was Oracle who set up the whole "Trinity loves Neo" thing which in turn caused Neo to choose saving Trinity over the choice that was made by his predecessors. So...yeah, is Oracle benevolent or not? I dunno. I'm still trying to figure out why the machines would have to dig to get to Zion if they'd already done it before. Or does this mean they put back all those layers that they dug up after the selected individuals were placed in Zion...arrgh! Confusion!

Possible spoilers from Enter the Matrix:

The game features the new Oracle and explains what happens to the old (I forgot what that explanation entails, though). Moreover, IIRC, the game hints that Trinity is pregnant with Neo's child...

    >>Why is it that everyone is so dirty except the door operators who were dressed in pristine white uniforms...<<

All the Zion Control operators were plugged into a Matrix-like construct program-hence the all white background. They switch views between the 4 or 5 controllers plugged into their chairs in the real world (alongside their operator) and the virtual environment (which is why they can see a wireframe of the Nebb arriving at Zion through the gates and all those buttons floating in mid-air).

Smith implied in the first film that the Agent programs would be sent into the Zion mainframe if they were able to get access- wouldn't it be very cool to see in Revolutions if, as the Squiddies break into Zion, one of them taps/hacks a connection into Zion's systems, so you'd see those white-uniformed operators sitting in their chairs as the camera pans slightly to reveal Agents standing behind them?

I know, that makes me mad, she wasnt in Reloaded enough!

EDIT: Did anyone expect Morpheus to yell out "Tonight! We celebrate our independence day!" during his whole speech?

guys, if you want to see more of Persephone go and get Enter the Matrix (and play the game with both Niobe and Ghost). You won't regret it.
Monica Bellucci also playes a similar role in Brotherhood of the Wolf just with much more nudity!!!
