Mys, your poem about the American Rev annoys me as I don't really think it was a real revolution.

I'm sorry it 'annoyed' you but frankly it's one of the most influential events in world history, not to mention the greatest victory for liberty and democracy in the Age of Reason.

 

I realize no one in the senate is paying attention to this but I'm going to slap some of them around nonetheless.


Cheveyo has decided to join the condemnation for allowing the bin ladens to fly out of the country without interrogating the family to some unspecified rigorous standard.

Absolute idiocy.

The major difference is that if you or I committed a murder and were on the run, the police would talk to our families because they don't know anything about you. Stop pretending that Osama did not exist before September 11th. Do you really think that no intelligence agency, no police agency in the world investigated Osama's ties to his families before 9/11? Or do you think that didn't occur to them because it's impossible they might be as smart as you?

Furthermore, the Bin Laden flight didn't take place for a week afterward. Tell me, do you not believe in civil liberities that you think the government should be allowed to hold family members hostage for as long as neccesary? Gee and all this time I thought you were liberal. I mean, scooping family members off the street and holding them for weeks doesn't bother you why? Maybe the mere fact you have no evidence that they are even in contact with Osama, in fact have repeated conclusions to the contrary based on all available evidence, isn't really pertinant.

Katana- Revolution or War of Independence, it's the same thing. The Americans defeated the Brits with the aim of ending British rule over the colonies and establishing their own government, which is exactly what they did. That is the definition of a revolution.

It may not have involved class revolts, but not every revolution does. That's generally a rather Eurocentric definition.

You are just playing with words. Almost any accepted college text will call it both the American Revolution as well as the War of Independence. It is both. I believe the most accepted American History college text is American Pageant and it does refer to them as both, as I recall.
