    Thought I'd bump this back up with E3 coming in the next month.

    Has there been any new information about the game, or are we just going to have to wait until E3 to start drooling?

    If you want to see some screens well here they are: :)

    [image=http://www.cube-europe.com/newsgfx/mp2-1.jpg]

    Few notes:
    They might be fake, furthermore they are also low quality screenshots if haven't noticed it by now ;) As last I got them from from cube-europe.

    We need Peter Jackson, or Ang Lee, or that guy that directed Aliens (his name escapes me right now), or Tim Burton... you get the point.

    KitKisto0

    Are you psycic? It's happening! A Metriod movie someway associated with Ang Lee!

    Hmm, just looked at IGN and according to them, Game Informer Magazine had an article on Metroid Prime 2 and showed off the same screenshots as Omega posted. So I guess those are most likely real.

    I hear that Metroid Prime doesn't have a screwball attack, that true? Whyever wouldn't they do that? Unless it's like Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where you can't jump anytime you want, unless near a ledge?

    Alas, unless they make a PC version, I'll never play Metroid Prime . . . I'll never buy another console again, now that I have a PC and can get games on it.

    And I second the echo about not having a Metroid-class game for the N64. The fools!!

    Would have been cool if the N64 had a Double Dragon Arcade and Ninja Turtles Arcade version too; four people could play at a time!

    Nope, no screw attack. I think they left it out because of the difficulty of using it effectively in a first person 3D environment. I hope they put it back in for Metroid Prime 2, but I'm not counting on it.

    Interesting though, it looks like you're going to be in a 'city' and there seem to be more wide open areas.

    Cool. :D

    Hmm, those things that Samus is fighting are Chozos right?

    Probably not. In all likelihood, those are unarmored Zebesian Space Pirates. Samus was raised by the Chozo, and only berserk Chozo spirits attack her.

    Well they could be those chozo like enemies from Super Metroid that live in statues and break free when you're near them :p

    Apparently John Woo is directing the cinema scenes for the game, and might direct the live action movie as well.

    >> There were Metroid comics??<<

    Yeah- I believe there were a couple in the old "Nintendo Comics System" (or whatever it was called), as well as the Super Metroid comic published in Nintendo Power (later collected into it's own "TPB")

    Since MP 2 will probably tie in with Metroid Prime, what if Phazon has somehow made the Chozo go mad? ?[face_plain]

    I've been wanting to ask this question for, oh, a decade and a half! :D

    How do you say Zebes?

    Zeh-bes? Zeebs?

    I say Zeebs, but I have no clue what the "official" way to say it is.

    Nintendo updated their main site with the title, some screenshots, and a short description of the plot! :D

    Metroid Prime 2: Echos

    In this highly anticipated sequel to Metroid Prime, become the bounty hunter behind the visor once more and travel to a planet torn into light and darkness. Hunted by a mysterious entity and a warring race called the Ing, Samus Aran must explore the light and dark worlds of this doomed planet to discover secrets and augment her suit's weapons and abilities.

    And now, for the first time in the history of the celebrated Metroid franchise, up to four players can battle each other as they search for weapons, grapple across ceilings, and turn into Morph Balls to make their escapes.

    Some of these screen shots have been seen already, but since the ones Nintendo put up are high quality, I'll just post them all. I wish they weren't so small though.

    And three others from another site:
    [image=http://www.samus.co.uk/images/mprime2/mp2_11.jpg] [image=http://www.samus.co.uk/images/mprime2/mp2_12.jpg]
    [image=http://www.samus.co.uk/images/mprime2/mp2_13.jpg]

    I'll bet that the Chozo thing is actually an Ing, and the "mysterious entity" is Metroid Prime with Samus' suit.

    I always say Zeh-Bes :p But I'm no English major ;)

    The new screens are way better quality. Oh well I like the way how Samus looks, it's a bit more colourful but it fits better with the other Metroid games. I'm not sure about the new visor though, the weapon and scan icons are fine but I'm not sure about missles and health.
    As last those two bar at the far right represent what? :p

    >> How do you say Zebes?<<

    I'm fairly certain the correct pronounciation is "Zee-bess", I forget where I read it, but it had something to do with the spelling of the word compared to it's japanese counterpart or something.

    Also, I think that's how it was pronounced in the original Metroid TV commercial as well.

    *drools*

    Dammit. So soon after KOTOR: The Sith Lords is announced they do this to me. Multiple geekgasmic, I'll tell ya.

    Now time to be a Literature dude:

    Where does the word "Echos" come from? It sounds Latin, and I think I've heard it somewhere before. Let's see if a Google search turns up anything.

    Edit: You did spell the word right...right?

    Double Edit: NO YOU FREAKIN' DIDN'T!!!!

    The name of the game is Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

    With 2 E's.

    When you think about it, how is a 4-player option Metroid game any different from all the other multiplayer games out there: N64 Goldeneye, Jedi Outcast, and so on?

    Because unlike Goldeneye and Jedi Outcast you can actually transform into a ball. :p ;)

    Oh well after reading through the description again and I noticed something is this game going to offer a light and dark world like in aLttP?

    Yeah, I'm suddenly reminded why the "E3 era" of each year is always worth getting excited about. There's gonna be so much stuff there this year - last years' was pretty decent (the unveiling of MGS3 for me) but... something was just lacking I think. But I don't believe the same will apply this year.

    Maybe. That'd be interesting, definitely, to have a light and dark world.

    Of course, if you're going by appearances and cameos, every Nintendo franchise except Pokemon exists in the same universe.

    There is no way that Mario is in the same universe as Metroid. It seems impossible. :p

    Oh well there are rumours that this game takes place after Metroid:Fusion. So the title Echoes, is pobably something like "echoes from the past" refering to Metroid Prime.
    These are all assumptions and rumours of course. So don't hold your breath.
