    Up, up and away ;)

The game will be released in 3 weeks in the USA and 4 weeks in Europe (not sure if I have the patience to wait until christmas). So I thought why not up the thread.

There are many images and movies released of ingame footages I decided not to watch them in order to stay spoiler free for it. However recently this interesting site emerged, channel51 I suggest you check out the logo and watch some movies ;)

Thanks for the site Omega. :)

Not long now until the sequel to the best game released on the GC.

Best game for the GC so far ;)

I wouldn't be surprise if Metroid Prime 2 beat that, if not there's always that new Legend of Zelda ;)

A lot of people I know slate the GC but in Metroid Prime, I had one of the best playing experiences on any machine. :)

And like you said add the new Zelda to this and the sequel to Metroid and its a machine still getting games of quality.

Is this one going to have the same controls as the last one. I couldn't really get into the game because the controls weren't like a normal FPS. You have to hold L to strafe and R to look around or whatever. The C stick should have been used to look.

I'm pretty sure the controls will be close to identical to the first Prime. Since Prime 1 nor 2 is not an FPS, I am glad Retro is not emulating the standard FPS control style.

In my opinion no console FPS can have a normal control style. I'm glad Metroid Prime does not have the control style you suggested, now I played both Halo 1 and 2 over more then 4 hours and I'm still not used to the controls.
With Metroid Prime L-targeting (kinda like LoZ:eek:oT z-targeting) aiming isn't needed so the c-stick can be used for the different weapons.

    Which is less challenging IMHO.

I'm disappointed the controls are the same, but I'm planning to get it.

There are more of the sites e.g. ilovebeams.com

    Which is less challenging IMHO.

Ah but the challenge in the game is not supposed to be killing of random monsters but in the puzzles and exploration. That's what Metroid is supposed to be about.

Of course the latter part is killed if you use that horrible hint system.

Exactly. There's a huge difference between an adventure/exploration game in the first person perspective and a first person shooter.

Does anyone know of a good site to buy a used GameCube at? I'll go nuts not being able to play Metroid Prime 2 until late December.

That, my friend, is why you fail.

IT'S NOT A FPS, IT'S AN ADVENTURE GAME TOLD IN FIRST PERSON. If everything first-person should have a shooter mentality, then why isn't life about shooting everything that moves?

Truthfully, yes. The controls were very much like what Ocarina of Time would have been in first-person. And I find nothing wrong with that. Metroid isn't a true FPS game, but just like in Zelda, the L-targeting won't save your dumb ass if you don't know what the hell you're doing. That's why they have the manual targeting system, too. I made frequent use of that, and I'm looking forward to Echoes and the new Zelda game.

BTW, whoever's idea was it to include a Samus Aran icon in the Halloween section is officially my hero :) ;)

Too bad there wasn't another icon or two of her to choose from though.

But what about DeusEx: Invisible War and Morrowind. They're RPGs and have the "normal" FPS controls (X-box not PC). You don't go shooting everything up in those games, except for certain areas in DeusEx.

But those are RPGs not adventure games ;) RPGs still usually involves hack and slash to get xp and level up. Adventure usually differs from that (think Zelda) :)

So anyway I've started playing Metroid Prime again, I'll probably finish it in time before part 2.

True. True. I guess I just can't let go of the control setup. :p

Yeah, I've recently picked up Prime again too. It's about time I finished hard mode before echoes is out. I just beat the Omega Pirate and all I need is one more artifact to continue.

    I can understand that ;)

I'm also playing on hard, I've just started though, I just got the charge beam so I still have a long way to go :p

By the way can anyone sequence break in Metroid Prime? I've tried it so many times but I simply cannot get the jump boost as first item. I suck :( meanwhile its very easy to sequence break in Metroid Zero Mission :p

Yes, there's quite a few things you can sequence break in Metroid Prime. Before I left for college, I played a sequence break game where I got the space jump boots as the first items in the game, skipped the thermal visor, got the plasma beam before Thardus(sp?), never got the grapple beam, and skipped the gravity suit. Some of the items are difficult to get, but just keep trying. Also make sure you know which version you have. The PAL and Players Choice versions "fixed" a few things, so you'll have to do some sequence breaking different, and some can't be done at all.

There are two sites out there with some good information on sequence breaking. One is Samus.co.uk and the other is Metroid2002

I knew about the PAL thing and I've literally wasted hours trying to do the space boots trick yet each time I fail.

The PAL trick is a bit more tedious as well which makes the thing worse :(

I got the plasma beam, power bomb, and some artifact early all thanks to that Metroid2002 site.
