Why would Vader have a castle, anyway? The dude has a fleet of star destroyers, with plush quarters no doubt. So, why bother?

 

Because Vader is a spooky fella, which goes hand to hand with a dark creepy castle.

 

It's his holiday home.

 

That's just one picture though. If you had hundreds of pieces of artwork surely there may be one or two that hint at Luke entering the cave? There may even be a storyboard or two to structure that scene.

As I say, not doubting that he has concept art just the amount he has.

 

all that's missing is a coffin and a creepy manservant.

 

He's a Lord. Lords have castles.

 

I will say that MakingStarWars does come across as unprofessional and arrogant in his podcasts, but that doesn't make him a liar. He has been laying down descriptions for us since before these images linked and proved that what he was describing was indeed leaked concept art. He wasn't lying then and I don't believe that he is lying now.

 

Lol. I guess. Maybe there's something important that he keeps there.

 

The other thing to keep in mind is that many pieces may be explorations of the same concept. Look at the "Grave Robber" art--we've got two near identical pieces of the same thing, and we're no clearer on its plot significance. Or what about the Falcon schematics? What do they tell us?

So if he has five pieces all detailing some character, story moment or vehicle, just because there's five pieces doesn't give it any greater context.

 

He has never stated publicly or to me that he has hundreds of pieces of concept art and storyboards so I am not accusing him of lying.

The question should be why doesn't Count Dooku have a castle?

 

I don't know, but it just seems like Vader wouldn't be bothered with one — not when you have a giant Winnebago in space, with servants and bootlickers galore on board.

I'm guessing if he has a castle, then it must be for personal reasons — like keeping a secret there or something.

Agreed. Even when you consider the number of different explorations for Grievous in the ROTS art of book, those different versions will be a fraction of the total art produced.

Watch the Hobbit appendices for example - when they're trying to work out the look for each dwarf, each one must have about 15 different variants pinned up on the wall. God knows how many different designs they must have gone through for Smaug. And the designs for him and the main Orc changed throughout production, even well into shooting and post.

Clearly some pics appear to be final, but the others might very well not be. I know that's a different franchise but the principle will e the same.

And when you consider they had an art department running for months while casting and the script revisions were done, it's worth thinking just how many pieces they will have cranked out.

 

Because nobody would sell a castle to someone with a name like Dooku. It brings down the neighborhood home values.
