Didn't one of the concepts from the first batch included a crashed star destroyer in the background that was pulled from deivantart as well? The one with Rey towing the crashed x-wing. Could be the same case (artists using existing models for illustration purposes)

I don't remember if that image was also from deviantarts, but I found it interesting that they used an Interdictor for that image and then "Tarkin" comes out featuring Interdictor class Star Destroyers thus making them canon... Makes me wonder if their Hyperspace preventing ability will be featured in one of the upcoming movies...

Bloody good spot! When you compare the two images - the "concept art" and the "fan model" - they are pretty much identical in terms of angles, perspective, detail (of the ship), and light and shade.

I would love him to end up with the wampa claw saber at some point.

 

I like his final helmet design much more than this one. In fact I don't really like this one at all. He looks like an employee at Target.

 

Yeah, I think they took the right path in the end.

 

Couldn't make a definitive judgement without seeing it translated into live action, but I love that concept design. Looks spookier and more unsettling than the final version.

 

Yeah, it's hard to tell from this. I think they picked the right one, but I could see this one being eerie in live action.

Seems like Indie Revolver are scratching around here a bit. That piece of concept art is rather sad given the stuff we have had in the past few days. It does not even tell us anything plot wise.

 

I like the final Kylo design a lot more than the early design. I don't like the hose hanging from the mask or the design of the mask. Some people may have issues with the current broad saber design but I like the flame saber. I think the saber may become iconic when we see it in action. The wampa claw would be more suited for a Count Dooku type villian. Not that I think it is a bad design, it just does not fit Kylo's look.

 

I don't like the design of the mask in that concept art. I'm glad they moved away from that.

I love the return to using old junk to make the basis of the props and dressing, first we have water butt robot, now we have Hoover Lampshade head droid. Was in pound land yesterday and randomly by accident found pieces to Reys staff.
