I'll check my calendar, but I don't think I have anything planned on the 14th and I'd like to make the meeting on behalf of the SMT.

No- I think Eric said he was going to try and make one and chat. Haven't seen or heard anything back on it, and he hasn't made it out.

Feel free to attend any MSCA meetings you'd like, or join. You just have to have an interest in cartoon art to be a member of the MSCA. IF you want to be a member of the National Cartoonists Society Southeast Chapter- the MSCA is the Memphis group of the NCS-SEC) they have $25 annual dues, and you get put on the newsletter list, and the dues help cover webhosting and such.

I don't know if I want to attend the MSC September meeting or not- might be best to let the girls go and represent. I wouldn't want anything I've said or done in the past to affect this fanforce and it's relationship with the MSC. I've already had people at/with other conventions mention I had "problems" with MSC, so apparently word is getting around- and I don't know what all has been said. I'd like for the MSCA to have a presence there, but don't know if Kevin, Antone, and the rest of the MSCA want to do a fan table again or not. I know we'll have more promo items by then. I'll see if I can't get Kev, Antone, or Janet to go to the meeting and/or see about a table there this year.

Like Timmy said- I'm not anti-MSC and if we didn't give a rat's behind we wouldn't care what they thought or have wanted to help in any way we could/can. I want to be able to attend and be a part of shows here at home. I'm just getting tired of felling like I'm banging my head against a wall.

And like Traci said- moving the venue is a good sign of change and a possibility for things like the con-suite to improve. I'm hoping with the new venue and leadership there will be more bang for the buck overall.

Nicki- I'll talk to the powers that be at ShadowCon about an SMT table or you. Would be great to have my SW peeps with me there!

I volunteer to be Soap *Beep* of MSC. I'll walk around with a basket of soaps and hand them to ppl who stink and say "Hey, the bathroom is right down the hall. Do us all a favor and take five minutes to wash your pits. The con isn't going anywhere."

It's at a hotel for pete's sake. It's not like there's an absence of soap or water.

And Joy...can I talk to someone about getting a table for the Order of the Red Glove? Just handing out cards last year got us a slew of new members. Imagine what a table could do!

Oh, I think that's a costume that needs to be made, Grace. All you need is a cape and two supersoakers- one for liquid soap and another for water.

 

Rhonda, Nicki and I are planning to come to the meeting this Sunday if we're not surrounded by tornadoes courtesy of Ike.

 

So far the weather is holing out. Hope the meeting is going well. Looking forward to hearing how it went. Heard one of the names that they are looking to get for the comics guest- if they do get them, I won't miss it- and even Dave said he'd like to come to town for it!

It went well! I enjoyed meeting everyone and I'm excited about the new venue and the space that it will provide to do things they've always wanted to do but never had room for at the Holiday Inn.

Nicki will be helping with Fan Tables, I'll be signing up to host SW board games, and Rhonda is going to help us try to coordinate with the MidSouth Garrison and Rebel Legion to maybe do a panel and/or run a Jedi Academy like they do at Disney and Celebration.

We'll keep y'all posted.

Jolly Blackburn is a very good guest to have -- sorry I missed him in 2003. He was very happy with the con in his Knights of the Dinner Table editorials, so I'm not surprised he's coming back. He's more of a comics guest than a gaming guest, which bodes well for filling out our panels.

Does anyone know if the golf course attached to this new hotel is actually still open? That's a temptation (although if I have another game like I shot today, I'll have to fish my clubs out of the lake before taking them anywhere).
