Andor Ahsoka Mon Mothma

As soon as she said she was being followed/watched, I was hooked. Inner workings of the Imperial senate, rebellion, I'm here for all of it.

 

Ridiculously excited.

 

Loving the look they've chosen for her, feels in the same tradition of Leia and Padme, elegant, regal, conspicuously aristocratic. Should be a fascinating character.

 

It's just awesome that they cast Genevieve O'Reilly. She's from the ROTS deleted scenes yet they still got her to play the character.

 

I agree. I don't think they could have picked anyone better.

 

She also acted in Rogue One and voiced Mon Mothma in Rebels, of course.

Dude yes, this is very cool to have both Mon Mothma and Genevieve O'Reilly.

Please give us some awesome political intrigue in this show, please! They've been playing up that angle, so I hope it's true.

Very excited by this. Giving us Mon Mothma’s formation as leader of the Rebellion is a great story area we haven’t fully seen. I’m sure we’ll see Bail as well, but I hope we see a few other familiar faces or names we’ve only just heard about before.

I am curious about Stellan’s character. I know he looks nothing like the character and he’s been consigned to Legends, but it would be interesting if they resurrected parts of Garm Bel Iblis’ backstory for whoever Stellan is playing.

 

It’s about time Mon Mothma got given a leading role. She’s literally the highest ranking member of the Rebellion, but has only ever had small appearances. Great to see this.

 

Mon Mothma is one of those characters who have been kinda important ever since 1983, yet we have actually seen her very little. She was in ROTS deleted scenes (can see only a glimpse of her in finished film though) and she was in some TCW episodes. She had a bit bigger role in Rogue One as supporting character and how she is at spotlight. Nice. She is not my most favorite character or anything, but she certainly deserves more depth. since Andor cannot have many other familiar characters it's great Mon is in it.

Garm Bel-Iblis could be great to have back in canon though.

 

make sense she's the Palpatine of the Rebellion so you rarely see her.

 

The best shot of the Andor trailer was Mon Mothma changing expressions at that swanky event. Fancy dress, fake smile, then she turns around with an "Uh-oh, I gotta get out of here" look. Feels like the essence of the show.

 

I didn't realize that the original Mon Mothma (Caroline Blakiston) is still alive. Obviously they needed to recast if they wanted to use the character again in the prequels but has Caroline really had much to do with Star Wars ever since her role in RotJ? You never really hear her mentioned at conventions.

Just curious because I know some actors/actresses don't really appreciate pop culture franchises such as Star Wars.

 

I seem to recall she expressed interest in being in the sequels, but never got the call. Maybe they thought her presence would impede viewers seeing Leia as the leader of the Resistance? Who knows.

 

Would have been cool. In canon we don’t even know if she’s dead. Last we heard she was sick in canon

 

I know there were a lot of cut scenes / extended scenes from the Battle of Endor in ROTJ. Any substantial stuff left on the cutting room floor that had Mon Mothma?

I still hope for a day we'll get an SE of the PT, and I've always thought that including as much Mon Mothma content that they have back into the films would be awesome.

Frankly, it would have been nice to have had her included in some capacity in the ST. She could have easily have been written as the Holdo character in that film, for instance, although that's not what I would have wanted. Just an example.

 

Just rewatched the trailer because somehow i missed forgot Mothma was in it. It looks awesome I am significantly more excited for Andor now. I love Political stuff. I thought it would just be a spy type show

 

Well, spies are often involved in politics, so I think that'll be the thrust of it. How Andor and Mothma came to work together.

 

yah looks interesting to have her be the political growing dissatisfaction rebellion origin political intrique story while Cassian supplies all the pew pew pew.

As I just mentioned in the Andor thread it's full on crazy that O'Rielly is cast as Mon Mothma for ROTS, cut down to walking down a hallway, has bits in Rogue One and Rebels and it now like a lead character here. That casting almost 20 years ago really paid off!
