Saga Most Overhyped/Overrated Star Wars Character

From the choices it’s definitely Luke Skywalker. I see the character as the catalyst of the Original Trilogy not the protagonist as I saw Han and Leia as much as protagonist as Luke in ANH & ESB especially.

After Luke Skywalker my Top 5 would be:

2. Boba Fett
3. Supreme Leader Snoke
4. Grand Admiral Thrawn
5. General Grievous

 

Not on here but Bobba Fett like he was okay in mando but I just don’t care about him as a character.

* This ranking doesn't mean that I don't like these characters (I mean: not at all!) but for each of them I feel a certain, individual hype I don't really like.

 

If Boba Fett were an option I'd pick him instantly. But I chose General Grievous on the list, because he's a villain that is just too bland and boring for me to even care about. I think the only time I liked him was in the 2003 Clone Wars, because he was actually intimidating there. But in the prequel films and the CGI Clone Wars he was completely pathetic.

 

Ahsoka - Annoying voice actress

Rex - All these clones barely have any
character

Obi-Wan - He’s pretty dull in ANH/TPM.

Leia - Kind of annoying in ANH. Kind of bland in ROTJ.

 

Reluctantly, I would choose Boba Fett for a simple reason.

However, first off, for me, Fett is iconic not solely because of his design/armor but also because of his actions as a villain, he captured Han Solo. Worse yet, he was going to turn him over for a bounty reward. As a kid watching ESB in the theater, this was high villainy indeed, a terrible cliffhanger to endure, this mysterious armored bounty hunter escapes with one of our heroes, taking him off to some unknown fate. The combination of both look and action sealed into my impressionable young mind the mystique of Boba Fett, a factor that's has endured ever since till today where I find it quite enjoyable seeing his resurgence and learning more of him.

That being said, I will say he was also over-hyped by the time of ROTJ. I was looking forward to a breathtaking showdown between Fett and our heroes over the fate of Han Solo. Instead, I got the Sarlacc with Fett accomplishing little in the fight before fizzling out as a tasty appetizer.

At least Maul killed Qui-Gon before he died (the first time).

So anti-climatic, such a letdown. Oh well, at least afterwards, I could play-act him better with his action figure in successfully kidnapping Yoda from my Dagobah playset.

 

I like Boba, but he’ll have to prove himself against Mando now, who has had an amazing two seasons with a satisfying character arc.

 

I would say the whole Jedi Counsel in the PT, with the exception of Yoda and Windu. They were far too weak, Anakin would have wiped the floor with them.

Yoda. Quit vs Sidious. Couldn't defeat Dooku. Didn't realize the Sith were still in existence for a thousand years.

 

I had selected Obi-Wan Kenobi. Despite his flaws being obviously conveyed in the movies, many Star Wars fans have this tendency to put him on a pedestal as this "ideal" Jedi Knight/Master.

 

Why is Yoda fighting Sidious to a draw, and leaving after he fell down and had no real chance to get back to where Palpatine was, considered quiting, yet Dooku creating a diversion for Yoda so he could run away from him, somehow is not?
That seems like a double standard to me. If you blame Yoda for "quitting" against Sidious, which is a stretch to begin with, then you should also blame Dooku for quitting against Yoda, not somehow blame that on Yoda as well.

I mean, you could just as well put it as Dooku quitting vs. Yoda, and Sidious being unable to beat Yoda.


As for the question of the topic. I wouldn't choose any of those on the list. It's Boba Fett quite easily for me. He didn't do much beyond looking somewhat cool in armor, yet somehow he is immensely popular.

 

Dooku quit no doubt but Yoda should be able to beat him anyway diversion or not.
The fight against Sidious was far from over. Why not sacrifice his life going all out kamikaze?
Don't get it wrong Yoda did well for a regular Jedi Master but not for that oh so powerful Jedi Grandmaster he is supposed to be.Thats why he is overrated to me.

He did nothing special in ESB?

 

The villains of Star wars has always been pretty lame, the only villains that seem comptetent is PT era Palpatine, Tarkin, Darth Vader. New villains like Krennic and Thrawn.

 

Grogu i always wanted Yoda species be mysterious i think Grogu ruin the cool aura of Yoda

 

What about Yaddle,

 

Okay he was pretty strong and impactful in ESB

 

Yaddle still look similar like Yoda i dont find Grogu to be the same

 

The strongest and most impactful thing he does, when considering the Force abilities shown in the rest of the franchise, is that he remote-chokes someone over his monitor.

 

That's because SW and especially The Force have been subject to decades of power creep. Back in 1980, GL could tell a compelling story without over-the-top Force gimmicks.
