Yeah, I have seen 2001, and read the book. Liked the book better :p I just never saw or read 2010.

I too would like something original, and not twenty remakes or sequels.

Comic book adaptations are getting a bit old.

While I do agree that movie remakes tend to show a trend in Hollywood that lends to the notion that there is a lack of new ideas coming up, I would like to see some of the more choice movies to be perhaps remade. Remakes of subpar movies and/or T.V. series FTL! The same holds true with comic book adaptations. I think the more popular superheroes tend to make for great movie-watching (Superman, Spiderman, Batman, et al.), the lesser known heroes make for drab watching (Ghost Rider, Punisher, et al.).

Normally I'd abhor Horror movie remakes, but I have to admit... Seeing a retooled version of George Romero's "Day of the Dead" would be mighty sweet, especially if they did it in a way to reflect George's original concept for the movie. (Basically government controlled zombies being unleashed against the regular zombie hordes. It was deemed too expensive when the project was originally underway, but with today's technology, the concept could be workable.) BUT, for a catch, it would have to be a VERY hard-"R" movie. There'd be no way I'd settle for a pathetic "PG-13" rating.

I wouldn't mind if Disney remade The Black Hole. That's a film that's just begging for a remake.

Black Hole. Good call! :D For when it was made, it was a good movie, but by today's standards...eh...not so much. So yeah, that would be a good one to remake.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is another one that deserves to be remade, but only if the look of the Nautilus stays the same.

I mean is that a scary looking submarine or what?

You wouldn't want it to look the way it did in "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"? ;)

    I kid. :p

The best appearance of the Nautilius in the original "20,000 Leagues" was at night--decidedly spooky.

Speaking of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", there's one that could be remade--though Connery as the lead was very good. A great concept--sloppy execution.

Also "Van Helsing". Same thing. Could have been great.

    In all honesty:

    The Phantom Menace.

Granted, it would be tough to get Ewan McGregor back into form for the role, and even Natalie Portman might look a wee bit off, even with the makeup, but the rest of the cast could reprise their roles. Switching those two out for younger actors (nobody really comes to mind for either part right now, but this is all just daydreaming) might even be preferable, given the jump in time between TPM and AOTC. The passage of time is poorly portrayed in the wear and tear of the last decade would be most evident if two of the main characters weren't made to look the same age over the course of thirteen years.

When I say the rest of the cast, I DON'T mean Jake Lloyd. I've said it from the start, and I still stand by my opinion: he was the wrong choice for the role; he was bad even for a child actor of his age.

The dialogue could do with a healthy dose of sprucing up, the visual style could be made more consistent with the rest of the trilogy, and the storyline could be changed around a bit to make a more compelling political mystery story with lead-ins to the Clone Army, the Separatists, and so on. Christopher Lee and Jimmy Smits could be brought into the picture. I have always felt that TPM had the most potential of all the SW films in terms of creating the best story, best dialogue, and could have been the most compelling, complex, and richest of the sextet (anyone who has read Cloak of Deception must surely know what I'm talking about. It's ashame that that particular opus of political fiction is capped off storywise by, well..TPM). Of course, it wouldn't fit with GL's vision, and there's no way around that, but I would still like to see a well crafted political mystery saga put to screen in place of TPM., instead of the kiddy adventure film with its dismal dialogue, simplistic story, yawn-inducing race scene, and unnecessary foolery (it should go without saying that Jar Jar's part would be significantly revised. I would even accept switching Jar Jar for Tarpals or another to accompany the party if necessary)

QFT. Just leave out Tom Sawyer. He sort of seemed like a fifth wheel in the movie. Maybe if they stuck a little closer to the graphic novel too....

As for "Van Helsing"...just leave in Hugh Jackman and we'll be okay. :p

Radical, you might get some hate PMs now. But you might also get some support PMs too. ;)

I think you're on to something though. At the very least, do some serious overhauling of the script, because the dialogue really was rather wooden. It was a great plot and storyline, so don't get me wrong, but the dialogue really was lacking.

That's true. Sean Connery would propbably make for a good Captain Nemo too.

If 20,000 Leagues should ever be remade, there should be only two conditions:

    1. The Nautilus should look like the original, and

    2. Captain Nemo should be an Indian Sikh. That's one thing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen has drilled into me about the character.

I will agree that Naseerudin Shah made for a good Nemo in LXG, but come on, its Sean Connery.

    How about "The Highlander"?

The sequels were so bad, maybe it's better off to just re-do the story again and give yourself some room to maneuver.

I was watching Disney's The Black Hole the other night, and I think that movie should be remade. It has a lot of good ideas in it and good visuals.

Dr. Reinhard - Ian McKellan or Patrick Stewart
    Alex Durant - Michael Caine
    Dan Holland - Christian Bale
    Charlie Pizer - Jim Carrey
voice of VINCENT - Billy Crystal
voice of OLD BOB - John Ratzenberger

A Highlander remake is something I've thought would be cool for a while now.

    How about Silent Running?

Only bad movies should be remade.

And the only way to do League of Extraordinary Gentlemen right on screen would be to just film the comic book and turn a page every 20 seconds.

I'm surprised that with today's CGI, that Hollywood doesn't start destroying The Wizard of Oz.

Seriously, Oz needs to be left alone.

This might sound strange but I think "The Birth of a Nation" should be remade, but made into more of a satire.

Star Wars was tweaked, not completely remade. There's a difference.
