Lysis is almost godlike in his above post. You all should really look at it again. As to any inherent 'mirroring'; as long as it is subtle, I dont mind. When it starts to seem forced, then I have a problem.

So, let me get this straight-

Just because a moon in our solar system has an atmosphere and that moon rotates around a planet- that means Mustafar is a moon?

    Thats some dumb logic.

Its confirmed over and over again on the OS that its a planet. Watch the Webdoc on it. They call Mustafar a planet over and over and over and over again.

It is a double-planet. The OS says so.

I love that Mustafar is a double planet or whatever the hell it is because of the Endor thing. Little stuff like this is what sets ROTS apart in my opinion. It seems to have so much breadth.

    Neptune and Titan

It's so cool how the two Mustafar's are so close together, and how they contrast:

one is large, dull, and waxen

the other is small, bright, and active

    :D :D :D

We have a list of all the planets in the movie (though I don't have that list readily available).

So, anybody know the name of the planet Mustafar is orbiting around?

I hate to say this, but the planet classification of Mustafar will be the last thing on my mind when it appears onscreen.

So it is definitely a double planet as many have said and the OS has confirmed. We can put that to rest. The significance of this for the story is it kind of reflects the duel in a way. Two planets orbiting each other while Obi Wan and Anakin "orbit" each other in their duel.

The dark, dangerous planet of Mustafar represents Anakin turning to the darkside, and the larger bluer planet represents Obi Wan trying to pull him back into the proper orbital trajectory (stay on the light side).

"It is a double-planet. The OS says so."

Sorry, always going to be a moon for me. a 'double-planet' was supposedly a reference to the fact the surface and caverns below are like two different worlds.

A smaller body circling round a huge gas giant is always a moon.

Pluto and Cheron are different, because they are of a similair size. The Planet in the picture is MASSIVE compared to Mustafar.

I'm still going to cling to the idea that 'Mustafar' is reffering to the Gas Giant and the duel takes place on its moon. Just like Endor, just like Yavin.

Mustafar reminds me of IO (I think) one of Jupiter's moons.

I've got a question about Mustafar's atmosphere. Its volcanic, so presumably the atmosphere is full of volcanic gases. So how do Anakin and Obi-Wan manage to survive on the lava river without protective clothing? Do they use their powers to hold their breath and hold back the heat?

You just have to use your own force powers of suspension of disbelief. It worked fine for me.

Darth-Mule - fair point, but the natives are wearing protective clothing in the exterior scenes and Anakin bursts into flames at the end of the duel - why wasn't there a barbecue before that point?

You have to ignore to enjoy the story,no one could ever survive on a planet like Mustafar...

I'm not sure I even BELIEVE in double planets. It is really proven that Pluto and Charon are double planets. I don't think we even have a good approximation of size or orbit as compared to each other at this day in age to make a definitive arguement about it.

Which brings me back to the Star Wars aspect of things... Do you think the Republic had enough intel on Mustafar to know if it was a double planet or a planet with a moon? Probably not. If Lucas says it's a double planet, we can take his word for that, but I think it's a double planet in the sense that it is a moon orbiting a planet of roughly the same size to the extent that it's hard to tell which is oribiting which. Mustafar is probably smaller, so I don't have a problem referring to it as a "Moon".

I don't care what the official site says, frankly. I know what a moon is and i know what a double planet is. What i saw was NOT a double planet. It was a moon orbiting a gas giant.

Pluto and Charon are tidally locked and near to the same size as one another, they are called a "double planet" because Pluto and Charon actually orbit one another.

Jupiter is MASSIVE and it has a moon a lot like that one. The OS can call a duck a chicken and i wouldn't take it's word for it. A duck is a duck.

Planetary and moon orbits rely on mass. No way is Mustafar massive enough to be a double planet with a GAS GIANT. Sorry, but i read too much about Astronomy and Planetary science to buy that it's a double planet.

And Heat doesn't make something into a sun, either. What makes something a sun is whether it's large enough and has enough hydrogen to ignite.

I know Aayla died on Feluccia (spelling butchered i know, but that's in the ballpark).

No idea about any of the rest.
