so since you've quit the thread i suppose there's no point in asking about this this is the kind of hard-hitting power rangers journalism that would have made this thread worth reading. no seriously, i you had asked the power rangers guys about something interesting like this (and managed to get an on-record response) i might have cared about your interview thread for the rest of the people following this thread here's an legit fan interview with blue ranger david yost from MMPR about what went down
I don't do interviews with the intent of causing controversy. I wasn't even sure what I was going to talk to David Yost about, but I'd already decided not to bring up his exit from MMPR. John Schneider was my first full interview, and I'm only doing them to inform and entertain people...not drag personal matters through the mud.
Moviefan2k4 thinks persistant homophobia from powerful authority figures to the point of driving one of their costars close to suicide is a "personal matter" beneath his notice. what a shock
I never said it was beneath me, but I didn't bring it up because I wasn't going to embarrass Mr. Yost. So many interviewers either don't care about the celebs as people, have a terrible agenda, or both. I wanted to be purposely different.
Most people see their sexuality has very personal, regardless of which stance they have on the subject. The convention is a public event, and its not polite to bring up sensitive subjects among a crowd. When I got my autograph from Mr. Yost, I asked of he'd be willing to do an audio interview. He said all of them had to be cleared by his agent before the convention started, which meant I couldn't do one. I did tell him that his character was an inspiration to me as a kid, because I was the nerd everyone bullied who wanted to stand up for himself, but didn't know how. He appreciated that.
Tommy's origin as the Green Ranger was done from his mind being controlled by Rita Repulsa through a cursed Power Coin. Later, Zordon managed to reverse the curse, and after the Green Coin was damaged, he created a White one so Tommy could remain in the group. Yes, I was a huge fan as a kid, but only the "Mighty Morphin" era. It got way too ridiculous after that.
Or what he thought about illustrating Kevin Smith's Daredevil run? That's a question I'd want to know, Moviefan.
John Schneider wasn't on "Power Rangers"; he just attended the same convention that David Yost and Walter Jones did last weekend.
you could have made that more clear in the interview. like you could of been like "im here with jack schneider who played superman's stepdad but was NOT in might morphin power rangers or any subsequent power rangers incarnation" its little touches like these as an interviewer that will really connect with each member of your audience no matter their level of power rangers expertise and say to them "hey, i haven't forgotten you, little buddy"
If you actually listened to the interview, John says two Power Rangers were behind him. That was a reference to David and Walter, while John was standing in front of his own autograph table. I even elaborated on it right after that.
yeah but the fact that he talks about power rangers is confusing because he wasnt on the show. that would have been a good time for you to interject "but you, sir, were not yourself a power ranger, do i have that correct?" and he woudl have been like "no i was not tho i would have liked to have been" or whatever and you move on from there. see how easy it is? step your interview game up, man
