My wife and I were watching ROTJ the other night and she noticed something very, very interesting. During the scene where the team led by Han, Luke & Leia are sneaking up on the field generator, there is a brief conversation between the "lead" ewok (Warrick Wickett?) and C3PO. The ewok mudders something to another ewok, then he turns to C3PO and says a phrase, to which C3PO relies "Naboo, acu tak tak?" Then he turns to the rest and says, "Oh my! I'm afraid our furry little friend has done something rash." My idea for this would be that in the battle to take back Theed in Episode I, they create a diversion "attack" and then the lead group sneaks into the throne room where Gunray is... hence the reference to a "Naboo (type) attack" or "Naboo, acu tak tak." Look it up, it's there!

It's as if the ewoks had heard of the famous battle of Naboo, and he uses it as a reference to relay the idea to Threepio.

I'm definitely not saying it is there intentionally, but if it is a mere coincedence, it's a reeeeeeeaally perfectly placed one.

Naboo wasn't created until TPM was written. It's mere coincidence.

And how would the Ewoks know about Naboo? Oh wait I know they probably used all of their high tech communica...wait no thats not it. Maybe they flew off Endor in their big space shi...thats not it either. Damn, didn't think this theory out to well did ya?

I'd say just a coincidence. Does the word "naboo" in 3PO's dialogue even appear in the script or in the Closed Captioning? It's either just coincidence that Lucas used it as the planet's name in TPM, or he was so at a lose for planet names he started listening to alien dialogue to help generate ideas.

ohhh.. i know i know.. see.. Endor is really Naboo.. and all the Naboo people will get killed in Ep III .. and the Ewoks are really Gungans trapped in teddybear bodies because of a new force power we'll see the emperor use.. and Wicket is really Jar Jar and omg! it all makes sense! I always noticed that C3PO said Naboo in ROTJ although I think it was just a coincidence.

Isn't there also another part (earlier) when an ewok says something like, "Ketchup, Naboo"?? Or something like that?

I know that when I started first hearing things about Ep. 1 I heard about a planet called Naboo and I was worried that there were going to be ewoks in the movie.

Didn't 3-PO tell the Ewoks their story in the Ewok village meeting room? :D But honestly speaking, I think it was just coincidence.

Why don't you lay off the sarcasm here, pal? He isn't saying that Naboo was definitely put in there on purpose, but merely speculating on a good idea if it was. I agree that the Ewoks were unlikely to have heard about Naboo, but using mindless sarcasm to criticise his idea is arrogant.

And before you criticise anybody about thinking things through, you might want to take a look at your sig. [face_plain]

I always thought (and my Ewok is pretty rusty) 3PO said:
"Paploo agoo tack tack" (spelled phonetically)

Paploo being the name of the Ewok who steals one of the speeder bikes, providing the distraction needed to overpower the guards. This theory hold true when you look at the Kenner ROTJ action figure of Paploo, it looks very much like the Ewok who drew the Imperials away.

I think you're listening too close for something!

(To Burns and fullmz) No blasters! No blasters!

Anyway, I think you're right that it was Paploo who took the bike. I never thought of that before, but it makes sense.

Yeah, I heard him say Naboo, too. It's too bad people had nothing better to do than flame an otherwise good observation.

No harm, no foul... no blasters next time, eh? ;)

Like I said it was merely a well placed coincidence... some sort of Jedi mind trick, methinks.

Anyway, thanks to those of you who had something constructive to say... and thanks for not lockin' this thread up. SW.com boards rejected it after some good discussion as "old news" and wouldn't even let anyone at least speculate. (the mods have a GL complex :p )

And, hey! The fact about Paploo... that's actually very helpful / insightful. Could you post a link or some sort of reference? That will help un-hurt my wife's feelings after reading all the flames. Thanks in advance.:)

Late nights watching the OT in consecutive order (after Eps. I & II) will do stuff to your ears! Watch out!

Thanks for the hospitality again, all who defend the newbie observations, BTW.

(newbie? I was born in '72, and have eaten, slept and drank SW since '77 baby! I grew up in this universe... ;) )

What about Wilford Brimley and that girl and them? They got to Endor after TPM, maybe they told the ewoks about Naboo. So there!
