Yeah. They just talked about it on race day too. Unrated left glove, pretty wild thing to get a safety violation for but I don’t see how it could have been anything but deliberate.
yeah, saw larry mac's explanation. it's bizarre, but front row motorsports sweeping the front row is pretty cool.
I swear, in 32 minutes I have had the coverage on, I think they have stated the fact that this is 2 super speedway tracks in a row to start the season, no joke, a dozen times. Are they trying to telegraph someone's displeasure with this scheduling? Now the wreck is being blamed on having 2 super speedways to start the year. Everyone runs the same tracks, right? Does this mean there will be back to back short tracks later in the year? What is the big deal?
i'm not aware with displeasure of the tracks themselves as much as displeasure with the fuel-saving tactics being deployed at superspeedways (and pseudo-superspeedways, like repaved atlanta). kyle busch gave a good summary of it in his postrace interview after the truck race, and last night's godawful xfinity race was the most damning example thusfar. fuel saving/lower throttle racing is reliant on drafting, which leads to these huge wrecks. probably will see a few more today unless the field spreads out. next week at vegas should be back to normal.
Only thing worse than a drafting track is a drafting track with only one lane. Just knock the banking back down already.
Do appreciate that everyone seems to actually be trying for the most part today. EDIT: we’ll, except for Cirdric, that’s what Logano gets for trying to cover for the idiot in the 2.
Tuned in about 20 minutes ago and saw the recap, looks like an entertaining race today! I love this track. Only 8 cars not involved in a wreck so far. Blaney chasing Busch currently.
I've only been to one NASCAR race and it was at AMS and it was such an incredible experience. I can't wait to visit another track someday.
suarez has been so good to start this year, which is a really good sign after last year. was up at the front last week until he got taken out in the hendrick crap, and has done very well today after getting some light damage early in the big one.
I'm also nostalgic for AMS because the day before the race, my cousin drove us onto the track itself and we were able to get out and walk around which was so neat. And it was so fun seeing Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr, etc there. I remember Matt Kenseth won that day.
that is awesome, dags. there's a commercial for AMS that always runs on siriusxm nascar radio in which dale jr is being interviewed and he says something like "if anyone asks me where they should go for their first race, i'm sending them here." would love to go see an atlanta race one day. got to make it to darlington first, but atlanta or charlotte would be next.
Hope you can get to AMS someday heels, it is an incredible experience. I want to visit Darlington too. Correction, Denny Hamlin won the race I attended. Jeff Gordon was second. I don't know why I said Kenseth. Danica waved at me before that race!
I thought I was fast getting on the wait list but the Iowa tickets were gone by the time they got to me, which was a bummer. The other race weekend I’ve been to was Vegas which was a blast.
one thing we can all count on here cindric will hang blaney out to dry like he's never met him, if given the opportunity
