I personally don't mind Natalie in the PT. Sure, she seems cold a lot of the time, and I'm sure there were far better choices, but she is at least very easy on the eye ;)

I believe Natalie changed her name because she was going to be famous. Now, Portman runs off the tongue a little easier than Herschlag, doesn't it. Many actors and actresses change their last name. Tom Cruise changed his and nobody complains. Schwarzenegger is about the only one I can think of that was a true candidate for a name change, and he didn't do it (well, there was Arnold Strong).

Another thing, do you think Natalie cares about what us "fans" say about her?
No, so why defend/praise her to such great extent. There is no real harm in either. But there should be a limit.

read my post carefully. I was never defending Natalie. I was simply responding to how ridiculous it was to call upon antisemitism to criticise those who, like me, DO NOT like her acting in AOTC.

"How many Queens do you know (or have seen) run around yelling and doing handsprings? They are taught (programmed actually) to behave in a certain way."

well Leia (Carrie Fisher) was a Princess

    and to DT
plz stop acting the way u do here
the arrogance is dripping of ur posts

and to Darthsith4 nice post !
    u hit the nail
her aristocratic behaviour (she cant help bcs she grew up that way )destroyed the the PT for me ,
as a matter of fact her ignorance and naivity didnt gave her the insight that she wasnt the right person for this role

    I hate her for that
    Portman = SW-Killer

Read my post carefully. I never said you were. But that statement was meant to apply to the whole discussion. Things were getting out of hand, and not just Dingleberries.

But I do agree with you on that person that mentioned Jews. They must sub-conciously be very aware of stuff like that. I never even knew she was Jewish, and it means bugger all to me now. But I'm not religious so I'm the wrong person to comment on that.

On that note, I think religion is silly. Nothing but old fairy tales (that hold some truth). I was brought up as a Christian so know a lot about stuff like that, but I just don't see the point. My ally is the Force ;)

entfirst: sorry if I misunderstood you, it's just that the "statement that was supposed to apply to the whole discussion" was written after my nick and the comment you made specifically to me, so I naturally thought it was part of your overall comment about my post.

Who was it that first brought up the irrelevant subject of Portman being jewish??

Read the thread and you'll see It was not me. :)

A couple of people commented upon Portman's "jewishness" in a negative way, as if it contributes to their perceptions of her acting. Perhaps if people left her ethnicity out of the discussion over her "death stares" other people wouldn't take it the wrong way.

Also, Portman is a family name, and her family is jewish, so in this case Portman is a jewish name.
