Does anyone know how to make a realistic battle droid effect. I have gold wave and I have a Star Wars Battle Droid preset, but when I use it, it doesn't seem real enough. Can anyone give me tips on how to make it more realistic.
    Thanks!

Import it into some other audio editing software,
add filters and adjust it to your satisfaction.

Adjust it, or, make a sound from scratch.

Ben Burtt records sound and then tweaks them.

He made the Tie Fighter sounds from the sound of an elephant that he
tweaked, so I'm sure you can think of something.

I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know, Yes. Yes.

Take a sound, tweak it, export it as a sound file, re-import it, tweak it again,
until you have what you need.

Who says all battle droids have to sound identical?

Have fun, and, of course, May The Force Be With You,...always.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try them out. Also, do you know of any other audio software that I can use other then gold wave or audacity? Thanks again.
*May the force be with you too*

What kind of battle droid sound are you looking for?

    The voice?
The mechanical sounds made from movement?
    Different blaster sounds?
    Beeping sounds?

I always need to be really specific...[face_chicken]

I use REAPER... best thing in the world. The demo version never runs out...

I just need help with the voice. I don't want voices from the movies that were already recorded. I want to record my own lines.

    then I would use REAPER...

If you have REAPER, here is how you achieve the droid voice.

Step 1: hit Control T to add a new track.
Step 2: Select the track and arm record.
Step 3: Record your lines on one track... it makes everything a lot easier.
Step 4: Click the add FX button
    Step 5: Delay tone 15-30ms.

    Voila.

    did you try it?

I made my Transformer's voices by doing that.

Wouldn't that slow the voice down?

To delay the tone makes sort of an echo effect but if you make the echo 15-30 milliseconds away, then it kinda synthesizes the voice and makes it sound very metallic and robotic.
Thats the easiest and most simple way I can explain it.:)

The sound that closely resembles that effect is in Transformers, the scene where the police car asks Sam, "Are you user name ladysman217" "Where are the glasses". It's pretty much the same thing I think.:D

I tried it. It didn't sound much like a battle droid at all, unless maybe if you add some sort of pitch filter and pitch it up aswell.

Maybe delaying the tone in the 05-10 millisecond range might be better for a battle droid effect.
It depends on which style of battle droid sound you want... from ep1 or 3?

I'll have to make an example

yeah I'll have examples up soon, but REAPER is the way to go when designing sounds. I've used it for three films so far and I got no complaints.

Goldwave can do this too, but you have to do some tweaking, and... try to sort of "vocalize" a bit monotonous when you read. As if you're ALREADY a droid. It's worked for me.

Yeah thats what I forgot to mention. You actually have to act... the program cannot do all the work for you.;)
