Neon Genesis is not a simple anime. If they had decided to stretch it out the way American television does, it would be considered the X files of anime (and as good as that series started out Eva had it beat). Of course I'm refering to the secret society, double dealing, plans within plans aspect of it, and the relatively slow way you found out about the history of NERV and everyone's relation to each other.

I still don't know if I consider the ending of the Evangelion saga to be satisfying, but I have to give Gainax credit, they at least had an ending.

Come on folks, but this time everyone who is into anime should have at least seen all of the series once. Series with a lot less going for than this have entire sites devoted to them. (Actually Eva has quite a few) Gainax has given anime some classics.

1 Wings of Honeamise (The Royal Space Force)

2 Gunbuster (The first anime I ever saw)

3 Nadia Secret of Blue Water

    4 FLCL

    5 His and Her Circumstances

No no it's not! As one who has heard of Neon Genesis Evangelion but never gotten the opportunity to watch it first-hand, I'd love to discuss it. I heard the finale to it was absolutely brilliant and was incredibly deep and metaphorical.

    Yo guys.

I'm starting to get into the "Giant Anime Robot's beating the crap out of each other" genra. It started out after I played Zone Of the Enders by Hideo Kojima (and the incredibly astounding previews of Z.O.E. 2), and now I want more.

Neon Genesis Evangelion sounds pretty cool. Also, Gundam W looks pretty rad too. From what I've seen, the animation in that is the best in the many Gundam series, and the action looks awesome.

Anything to keep in mind when watching this stuff?

Also looking forward to the "Animatrix". :)

End of Evangelion is well worth seeing, they saved the best imagery for ths final chapter.
Has anyone with the DVD checked out the commentary track from the US translation staff yet? Its funny and irreverent stuff, the perfect antidote to the film's somewhat depressing content.
