Well, I know one thing for sure...you sure know how to keep us coming back for more!

    Great job!=D=
I can't wait to see where this all leads. If perhaps what's chasing him catches up with him!

They do have such a chemistry, don't they? I agree with Rev's sentiments--Anakin pulls away just when we don't want him to. Quite the unique form of a cliffie! I fear that Padme may be being watched. I think someone wants Anakin back, quite badly, and they're hoping to figure things out before Padme does. I hope we find out before all of them! :D

Much =D=, Gina. I love seeing them tiptoe so close to a connection... I hope that they will get to find out more soon! Can't wait for more, but take your time! I know DRL only too well. :D

Padmé gave a bark of laughter. "You know nothing about me. How could you possibly presume to know what suits me and what does not?" The laughter quickly dissolved from Padmé's lips, however, as Anakin turned away from his work and looked into her eyes with the same raw intensity that she had experienced from him that morning just before Pooja and Ryoo arrived.

"I do not presume, Milady," he said, his voice soft but his words firm. "I know."

Ooh... me thinks that they have a history that she does not know about! I am still anxiously waiting for you to explain all these questions I have! :p Ah well, I suppose I shall remain curious for a while longer [face_laugh]

I have as many questions as Padmé does right now and I can?t wait until I get to know more about Anakin?s past.

That was such a sweet A/P moment, to bad that it didn?t go further then that.

Fantastic update Gina, and thanks for the pm.

Whew! [face_blush] Talk about chemistry! This chapter was practically dripping with it! :D

Your descriptions of Padme and Anakin are so vivid, I can see every single thing that's happening! Honestly! It's as clear as if I were watching a movie!!!!

I love the way they talk to each other. Both are so eager to learn about the other but there are lines they just can't cross at this point. It makes it even more intriguing, you know? This story is just so great!

Sorry to hear that DRL has grabbed hold and won't let go. But rest assured, I'm not going ANYWHERE! Not even if it takes months in between updates! What can I say? I'm hopelessly addicted!

    Great work, Gina!

I am more intrigued by Anakin with every post and you are such an evil author to keep stringing us along. [face_shame_on_you]

    Looking forward to more. [face_batting]

Suppose to be studying for my microeconomics test at 6 p.m. *Here's her mother's voice scolding in her head* I know, momma...bad Teela! All these definitions are swimming together in my head though, so a break was needed, in my opinion. :D

Marvelous update, Gina. =D= Methinks Padme touched a very sensitive subject with the family question...hope (and the subject of Empire) it doesn't create even more tension between them!

Oh my, there's certainly a lot of heat between these two! [face_love]

Padmé began to tremble beneath even this most innocent of touches from him, and she cursed herself silently for such weakness. Then, without explanation, Anakin stilled his hand, his own fingers seeming to tremble against her flesh. She watched as his eyes roamed over her face at a painstaking pace, as if he were memorizing her features. He turned his hand over and began to tenderly stroke his knuckles against her cheek. Padmé felt her own heartbeat reverberating in her ears as his gaze fell to her lips and lingered there. She watched as a cloud seemed to pass over his eyes, and Anakin pulled his hand away from her suddenly, his expression growing dark.

"I should leave now," he muttered, standing up quickly and moving to retrieve the dark cloak he used to hide from the rest of the galaxy.

"No, please wait," Padmé urged, standing as well. "Part of our agreement was that I would provide your meals. It will only take me a moment to prepare something."

Anakin shook his head. "No. Thank you, Padmé, but it isn't necessary." He shrugged on his cloak, pulling the hood low over his face. "I will return in the morning." With that, Anakin turned on his heel and hurried along the path that skirted the outer perimeter of the village below.

She watched him depart until he disappeared beneath the crest of another hillside. Then with a great sigh, Padmé picked up the tool kit and returned it to the storage shed. She was just closing the door to the shed when she felt a strange prickling at the back of her neck, as if she were being watched. Turning around, Padmé scanned the woods bordering the perimeter of her property, but she could see nothing but the lengthening shadows of the coming evening.

"Now I'm imagining things," she said aloud.

I love the way you're building the tension between them, very realistic. And well done, as always! :D This is such a unique and well written story, but that's no surprise! :D

I think everyone else has said it already, but there's such a wonderful chemistry between Anakin and Padme! Each chapter brings so many new questions, and mysteries keep adding. I wonder about Anakin's past, and the identity of the person who's watching Padme is also very intriguing - friend or foe?

A part of me wished that Anakin would have just kissed Padme, but then it would ruin all the nice tension between them - we wouldn't want that! :D

I think I've already said it before, and as much as I hate sounding like a broken record, I really love your language and your description of tiniest details. =D= Fantastic job!

And to a slightly different topic: it seems that men stay dumb even when they're adults. (Anakin is a pretty good example ;) ) And a part of me wished that they would become rational after they hit twenty... *sighs*

Sorry for the incoherent review - I'm a frustrated college student who's just had her exam, and the next is coming in about twenty hours...

Amazing chapter, and I can't literally wait for more!

    Thanks for the PM! [:D]

Finally! I am really sorry that it took so long to come here. DRL has been so evil to me! :_| Don't take any stress about this story - DRL loves to be mean. So, take your time. You won't lose your readers. (at least not me ;) )

Well well. Chapter seven was quite a piece of writing. First I have to give ten points to Pooja, who said what we all wanted to hear. Children are the horns of truth.

"But?he is in need of credits, food? I only wanted to ? "

Yeah right, Padmé...We know that you only wanted to-:p

Okay, shame on me. I'm extremely tired. I apologize my stupidity. [face_plain]

Without hesitation, Padmé knew the answer.

    Everything.

Yes! That's my girl! :D I love their relations...Anakin seems to open up a bit, and Padmé tries to hide her feelings...I just love this!

Chapter eight was splendid! They really are warming up. I'm just curious who Anakin really is. I think he is a villain! A henchman of the Emperor, who regrets his choices and---umm, spends time with Padmé? :p I don't know.

"I do not presume, Milady," he said, his voice soft but his words firm. "I know."

That was somehow creepy, though he said it with soft voice. He is a creepy guy, no one can deny it.

Sorry for this lousy review, I am dead tired and DRL kicks my butt all the time. I would love to read more soon, but take no stress. I won't leave this story - I just couldn't! I love it too much.

Awesome job. And take care, my friend. ;)

So close!! [face_frustrated] I had to stop and take a breath before I got too excited. :p

I love how the mood swings from slightly lighthearted to serious to dangerous, and always with this heavy intensity. I don't know how Padmé isn't exhausted by now! I suppose the knowledge that Anakin is returning the next morning would be enough to keep any girl going. [face_love]

Thanks for reading everyone! I hope to post the next chapter either today or tomorrow.

    Gina

    AnakinLuver

I hope Padme will be able to break through that barrier that Anakin has up sooner than later.

But then that would spoil all the fun! :p

    jedi_princess18

And who was watching her from the woods? At first I thought it might have been Anakin, but I'm not so sure it was him...

Let's just say there are LOTS of possibilities. [face_whistling]

    penpadme

Their attraction to each other is palpable for sure. I could feel the chills myself. That tells me what a great story this is.

    Thank you!! [:D]

    randomangel22

i hope padme can break through anakin's barriers and figure out what he's hiding

That's no easy task. Anakin has good reason for erecting those barriers, and he won't let his guard down too easily. :(

    DragonLotus

And it's going to get much more intense before the story is finished. [face_devil]

    HandmaidenVeme

I have a feeling that the past he's hiding from were his dealings with the Empire and possibly his contribution to the fall of the Republic.

Hm...who could that be hiding in the woods and spying on Padme? Friend or foe?

[face_shhh] You know, I wish I had more time to write so this story could go faster because keeping all these secrets is killing me! LOL!

    jmsbndgrl

Well Padme shouldn't feel bad, she is not the only one who has questions about Anakin. I'm not sure what to make of him, but that is what makes this story fun.

Don't feel bad. I'm the one writing the story, and even I'm not sure what to make of him at times. [face_laugh]

Don't let DRL get you down, I'll wait patiently for the next update.

    Thanks! [:D]

    JediMasterRev

Just when we think Padme is making headway with the mysterious Anakin Skywalker, he further withdraws leaving her and us desperately clinging to the edges of our seats wondering what will happen next. A subtle yet still quite evil cliffe there, Gina.

Me? A cliffie? [face_batting] Now you know I would never do something like that! O:)

Well, I know one thing for sure...you sure know how to keep us coming back for more!

Here's the next chapter. It's short, but DRL wouldn't let me sit down and write the next part. Hope you enjoy it anyway. :)

    [b]Chapter 9[/b]

[i]I awaken suddenly, but no longer am I in my warm, comforting bedchamber. I am lying instead on a bed of leaves and moss with the trees surrounding me my only walls and the black sky above me my only ceiling. In the distance, I can hear the thunder of the storm that had settled over my village during the night, but it has not yet reached this mist-shrouded forest of my dreams. Here, the soft ground is dry, save for the dew that lightly caresses the green blades of grass.

I do not remember coming here to this familiar place, led, as usual, by his eyes. Something is wrong?

Standing up, I turn in a slow circle, searching for his light. But he is not here. I am alone.

"Anakin," I call out, searching for him. "Please, I know it is you. It has always been...you."

There is only silence. I count five heartbeats, then six before I hear his voice at last, soft and filled with sadness.

    "I am here."

I search the skies, but still I see only blackness.

    "Where? I-I cannot see you."

When he does not answer, I begin to search the forest floor. And there, beneath the shelter of an ancient tree in the far depths of the forest, I glimpse a dark silhouette. I begin to walk to him.

"Nooo!" he roars, and I am thrown to the ground by some unseen hand, its touch icy and its stench that of death.

I feel liquid warmth trickling down my back. Crawling to my knees, I reach back and gently touch my neck. I feel something wet, sticky. I do not need to see my hand to know that my fingers are stained with blood. Looking down, I see a large rock protruding from the ground, the cause of my injury. Yet even as my hand probes the wound, I feel the flesh beneath my fingertips healing itself until my neck is smooth once more.

I wipe my bloodstained hand on my sleep gown and stand on shaking legs. "Anakin, please tell me what is happening. Why am I here?"

I do not expect an answer, and I do not receive one. Taking a deep breath, I take a step closer to him. I brace myself, waiting for yet another blow. But it does not come. I continue my journey through the trees, but with each step I take closer to the silhouette in the distance, he only seems to grow farther away from me. I continue on for what seems like hours. When I can go no further, I sink to my knees on the forest floor, exhausted.

I curl into a tight ball on the soft ground and close my eyes. Soon, I feel the brush of fingertips once again, but this time they are warm, soft. They caress my cheek, my neck. They brush the hair from my face.

"Anakin?" I whisper, turning into his touch.

I open my eyes and see the dark figure from the forest kneeling over me. He is dressed in the cloak I mended so carefully. I hear his breathing. It is labored, intense. But beneath the hood, I do not see the familiar blue of his eyes. Instead, I see only blackness, an open expanse as dark and foreboding as starless space.

For the first time, when I look at him, I am afraid.

    "Leave her alone!"

The voice I hear is Anakin's, but the sound does not come from the hooded figure at my side but rather from somewhere?above us.

"She is mine," the figure beside me counters, yet once again, it is Anakin's voice I hear, this time emanating from beneath the dark hood.

My fears intensified, I stare at the dark figure looming over me. "I don't understand, Anakin," I plead. Tentatively, I reach out a trembling hand to him.

"Padmé, no!" the voice calls from the skies once more as the Anakin above me and the Anakin at my side continue to do battle.

"It's alright Padmé," the Anakin at my side whispers soothingly. "I won't let him hurt you. I can protect you."

I pause, my hand held in mid-air. The figure leans closer to me, the warmth of his breath tickling the cool skin at my throat. He cradles my neck in his strong hands and lifts me closer to him, my outstretched hand coming to rest on his

Masterful - every single description of yours is spot on. I love the way you spin your tales - the dialogue is perfectly done, the scene so beautifully set that I can 'see' everything as it unfolds. It's such an amazing experience!
