    I think other assist trophies have become fighters (or, at least, Mii Fighters), so he wouldn’t be the first. There are no rules, really, outside of them appearing in a video game first (ie: the No Goku rule).

    Looks like they're excluding the Disney stuff (can't really count a black-and-white skin as Disney reallllly).

    I mean, there’s been speculation that Kingdom Hearts itself might pivot away from Disney at some point because Disney are so fickle about licensing subsequent titles, it’s not a stretch for them to just put in Sora without it.

    Also, if I’m not mistaken, this is the first time we’ve seen the characters’ trophy states since Brawl, 13 years ago (unless Smash 4 showed them at some point early on that I’m forgetting). Definitely a first for Ultimate, in any case.

    Indeed! Today he put up this video about sound FX priorities and uses Ultimate for examples. Never realized how much effort went into just the footsteps.

    Sakurai recently looked at the concepts behind Brawl. Interestingly, if Sakurai hadn't agreed to come back for Brawl, Nintendo would have just done a straight port of Melee with no roster updates.
