I walked around 8 miles this afternoon, some of it up quite a bit of hill. (Of course, that means the other way was down the hill, but whatever.) I hadn't set out to go that far, but I ended up going and going while talking on the phone to Kim, and before I knew it I had hiked all the way down the hill to the edge of town.

Ow. My legs and my feet hurt now. And I bet they'll hurt more tomorrow.

Did my mile this morning. Slow jog half mile downhill, walk back up. No walk today at lunch though, because I have a lunch meeting.

Pacing is a highly underutilized fat burning exercise.

I found a good DVD to work out to, but now I just need to have energy to do it. It's the 30 day shred by that girl from Biggest Loser and it kicks me in the behind every time I do it. It's only 20 minutes (plus 7 minutes of warm up/cool down) and I sweat more doing that than when I do 6.5 miles on my exercise bike in 30 minutes. And I'm MUCH sorer the next 3 days... I just need the munchkins to be immobilized while I do it...

What type of exercise is it?

It's cardio, strength training, and abs. I think it's 4 minutes of cardio, 3 min of strength then 2 minutes of abs, or something like that. I've only done level one, and it is rough. She combines big and small movements, so you are doing squats while lifting the weights over your head. The one that kills me is the side lunges (I think that's what they are called) and you lift the weights straight in front of you to eye level as you stretch from side to side. The DVD is only around $9 at walmart, so it's not a bad price at all.

Thanks for the info. That is a good price, I'll have to think about it. I'd have to buy weights too though. I haven't done any weights training since I was in early teens.

What type of cardio is it? Step? Jumping jacks?

I've fairly well kept up with my walking and jogging this week. I don't always get three sessions in, but it's usually two, always at least one. I broke my diet terribly on my birthday, though. First my manager invited me to go out to Indian buffet lunch with a interview candidate (that one was for work, not bday) - didn't overeat, but I'm sure a lot of the Indian food was off my diet. Then my parents took me out for dinner - steak, but it came with bread and I had salad and soup bar, with all sorts of carbs. But even so, I lost back the extra pound that was gained a week and a half ago and then one more.

So I decided I needed a visual aid to get me motivated. Sadly I removed my superhot picture of Jensen Ackles from my computer desk top and have replaced it with a picture of Red Sonja (a costume I would LOVE to do at some point). She is stabbing something and I added the words 'Kill Fat' to it. I am finding it motivating.

I was bad last night. It was a stressful night for a while - first my mom got really upset because she couldn't get ahold of me for a while, and then there was a fiasco with guests spilling wine all over the couch. I was stressed, and caved in and had a glass of wine and then a piece of french bread and some strawberry shortcake with ice cream. [face_blush]

Yeah, the Jensen thing was hard. And I'll go back to it when I reach my goal. But here's my motivational desk top. It rocks. And Mac, I'm glad I'm not the only one ;)

Ride a cock-horse to Banbury Cross,
    To see a fine lady upon a white horse;
Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes,
And she shall have music wherever she goes

And Bamers gets a workout. Win.

the cardio mixes it up. It's jumping jacks, fake jump rope (you jump and move the arms like you have one), butt kicks, and I think one other thing. You can do it without weights, but the weights really make a difference. Just use cans of soup or something like that. That's just level 1. I havent' made it to level 2 yet.

Pretty sure I have that one too, part two is crunches & other crazy things. Can't do those yet, going to start the bike & some sit ups & arm weights along w/ the other 100 things I have to do for my ankle that I haven't been doing on a regular basis.

Butt kicks? I haven't heard of that one, and it's probably not the mental picture j have in my head right now. o_O

Didn't make it for my walk this morning. Had such a hard time waking up- hit snooze for an hour. Plus it had been drizzling on and off overnight. I did go fir a walk/jog at lunch though.

    Wow, good job Leah!

Even with a friend from NYC staying here I actually had a very healthy day food wise. Found a great cheap place to buy veggies.

Now I just gotta get back on the horse with the exercise.
