    Hi Vorax,

Thanks a lot for sharing this! :D

That initial fighting scene in the book is one of those moments, one would really like to see being flashed out in a picture or even animated. Good to see that I was not the only one to yearn for such.

Anyway, "Lockdown" could be a great blueprint for a video-game at least, for I don't harbor any hopes to see this novel on screen. Is there any novel of Starwars who had been animated afterwards? Not yet because the big surprise of the audience about what to happen is still one of the greatest assets in planning SW-movies. But when there are so many other films around where novels do already exist like "Pride and persuasion" or "Harry Potter", why not bringing a good Star Wars-novel on screen some day?

There was a few of cool publicity tie-in posters done:

Wonder if there was more out there or planned.

I liked the hard PG-13 to almost R rating appeal of the book and the violence & gore factor coupled with the Escape from New York type setting or feel, the atmosphere was really good in the story . I never really liked Luceno's take on Plagueis story completely and this book serves as a tie-in of sorts, but also goes its own way to a certain extent and if you have to ignore that the SOD revelations and Marvel's Maul to pretend to story could've taken place. I think its a good portrayal of the Maul character. Maul even in the Marvel series does exercise a great restraint in not giving into his lightsaber and Force fury as to not give away what and who he is. All in all I don't find much traits incompatible so far with his Marvel run cept Marvel's Maul I think was more harder edge and complete but mainly cause there is no Luceno 3 ISth Lords or two Sith Lords and an assassin nonsense - there is just two really brutal and evil dark Lords, one is just younger and eager to wreak carnage and be unleashed or unleash himself if need be. But anyway it later works for his duel with Pre Vizsla when it does not appear to use the Force overtly, if he does its very minutely and to counter Pre's assortment of weapons or make up for his lack of an organic lower body but overall he gave Pre a regular normalized as could be fight which was different from what Anakin did to Clovis. There was always this interesting mix of ravenous fury and murderous rage with a silent rage calm and cold patience & yet still with his own code of being an honorable warrior at heart. Perhaps that internal struggle between the Light and the Dark, being a Nightbrother and being a Sith Lord.

I thought it was good and fun book with serviceable to good plot, was a different story for SW at least at the time.

I was surprised when I red in the book that Darth Venamis was still alive in Plagueis' bacta tank. I presumed him dead forever when in the Plagueis novel Plagueis and Sidious let Venamis die. After several killings and succeeding re-animations by Plagueis, the Bith's inner organs did fail irreversibly, as wrote J. Luceno. That was 48 BBY and a sign for me that this kind of experiments is over once and for all, for Plagueis did unravel the secret about cheating death. So there was no reason to let Venamis live on.

So was the re- appearance of Venamis in Joe Schreiber's novel just an incoherent idea or was he up to something bigger, I don't get?

I haven't read it, but according to Wookieepedia Venamis only appears as a corpse in Lockdown.

Coherent Axe: Venamis moved his eye in Schreiber's novel.
BTW: Your nickname is matching a word in my closing question very nicely!

    Vorax,
There are more posters waiting to be drawn about Maul's fights in Coghive Seven. Thanks a lot for the Weequay-edition. :)

Venamis over the coarse of decades was reanimated and killed again and again cause Plagueis was doing his Dark Side experiments and also cause he had some sick enjoyment of it.
