    Hi everyone. I went on SW.com recently and on the main page theres a link you can click on saying "Resurrecting a Jedi Assault" well I have to questions about it.
    Is that raw saber footage?
    And if it is, would there be another to get it without signing up to Hyperspace?

    From the Mods: We are definitely aware about the goods Hyperspace is offering. Anyone caught sharing material like the deleted scene through the boards will be dealt a quick and swift punishment. Please do not ask for or promote such actions on these boards. Thank you.

    Yes, it is a deleted scene from AOTC (when Ki-Adi Mundi and Plo Koon and a few other Jedis attack a Droid Control Ship). But they cutted it just simply together and there a missing alotof effects.

    It's cool to watch. Shows a lot of neato stuff that was cut out. Mace had an additional stab move when taking out Jango that was taken out probably cause it was too violent. But the video is cool cause it has really badly composited Jedi fighting then just cuts to a shot from TPM, then to a still picture of a nexu getting blown up then to a storyboard image, then to just straight text describing what's going on. Very very very raw footage.

    [lame, starving for attention, likely to fail attempt at wit] It's not the money man, it's the principle! Information should be free for all. But the man keeps tryin' to keep a brother down. Fight the power man! Open our minds, but don't charge us for it! Power to the people!

    *sings* All we are saying, is give peace a chance! [/lame, starving for attention, likely to fail attempt at wit]

    EDIT: Sorry, forgot my markup codes again. I gotta stop doing that!

    20x6, hyperspace has a lot of features like the webcams and diaries that take time and money to run. You can't expect a site that already gives us a lot to give us more than we ever thought they would and do it for free.

    I agree that giving a bunch of cool stuff for only $19 a year is a pretty good deal. I paid it, though of course may cancel if there's a lack of really nifty exclusives.

    Well, but there are tons of other movie pages who deliver material for free, e.g. the Matrix. And this damn webcam...what do you think you will all see there??!?!?

    I think GL earned enough money for himself and ILM for the rest of their lifes.

    Neo, George Lucas isn't paying for this stuff directly out of his pocket. Sure, he can afford to pay for anything he wants, but Lucasfilm, ILM, Lucasarts, THX, etc are buisnesses. If they went by you philosophy, they they might as well make the Star Wars DVD's free or give away all Star Wars video games for nothing. There a buisness, and buisnesses do things to make money.

    Neox, about that webcam... (POSSIBLE EPISODE III SPOILER: AVERT YOUR EYES AND SKIP NEXT PARAGRAPH...)

    =============
    The other day, they showed the costume department finishing up on the new Chewbacca costume. So THAT's something you get to see. And the default position is this part of the studio where they're constructing internal sets.
    =============

    I'd bet they NEED it to keep the site running, what with all the traffic they get. It's more than an issue of greed. In today's economy, paying for a site with banner ads is rarely a feasible business model, as ads rates are woefully low. The general trend of a lot of formerly free sites is to introduce a members' section.

    End of Free is a good website that's chronicling the trend. Incidentally, the name of that site's been changed to The Start of Fee.

    Yesterday, Rick McCallum was on for a moderated chat (more like a really fast discussion thread, but still...)

    For only $20 a year, I'd say Hyperspace is a darn good deal.

    doggans: Soooo tempted...unfortunately, I was otherwise occupied.

    Oh nifty...turns out Ki-Adi-Mundi uses a one-handed fighting style, and is the only Jedi that does so.

    *goes back to rewatch footage*

    Yeah yeah... time and money... money that we've been throwing into Lucasfilm for ages.

    I may go for the subscription service if there's gonna be some sweet exclusive content, but I still hate the fact he's just milking it all.

    I know it's been said many times that he never forced any of us to fork over money and that it's been our own choices all these years, but that man just never quits with charging for everything.

    Agreed. Doesn't he have three billion dollars?

    If I had that money, I wouldn't charge for anything. I could make hundreds of movies, and still have more than an extra billion dollars more than I need to live. And... what happens to those cameras he stops using after each Star Wars movie? Does he rent them or buy them? I'd think he buys them but he always uses a better camera on the next movie....

    Am I missing something? Only thing I ever remember paying for is Hyperspace. I wouldn't really count the books, movies, and games I've bought since, well, everyone else charges for those, too.

    EDIT: And while I'm sure George has plenty of money, what about his hundreds of employees who actually go out and make this stuff? I'm sure they'd LOVE to give it away for free and find another way to support their families.

    Would anyone be so kind as to post the footage here if you have it?

    I'm sure that would THRILL all of us who paid to see it, and I'm sure StarWars.com would be very happy to see that sort of thing on these boards. [face_plain]

    I understood it. I was just saying that GL has enough money to survive.
