Nom Anor, just as bad as it gets and it's GOOD

Though I'm with Havac in that I'm not that sure if I'd want to see Nom return, I fully agree in not believing all the Vong returned to Zonama Sekot. IIRC, I think it's been very vaguely mentioned in the end of TUF, sourcebooks and DN that there was some further fighting... but need that be over?

I'd quite happily see something about a rogue supreme commander denouncing Nas Choka's order to lay down arms and declaring himself Warmaster, then fleeing to some random planet or a dying worldship's carcass from where he rallied other warriors who also refused to surrender.

While most of the warrior caste committed harikari because they couldn't live in a world without a Supreme Overlord, I'd be rather fond of said "Warmaster" being rather screwed in the head and still thinking Shimrra is alive and that his death is a lie perpetrated by the Jeedai Heretics, even thinking Nas Choka is Yu'shaa or something along those lines.

You also get the chance for all kinds of screwy internal politics, with crazy priests who want to anoint the warmaster-in-denial as the new Supreme Overlord, or others who have already abandoned their faith (or admitted the entire priest caste were liars all along) and are now just saying sweet nothings to the "warmaster" hoping he'll help them get what they want, even though they don't believe for a second in the gods anymore.

And as the series went on, their faith would slowly unravel more and more, and you'd get the increasingly delusional "Warmaster" allowing his shapers to experiment in all kinds of weird schutta... like injecting themselves with Jedi blood or something. :p

Why have I gone into that at some length? Mainly to show why I think a new villain could be just as interesting--and an original character rather than resurrecting someone from NJO itself--without needing to resurrect Nom Anor. I am fully open to a rogue Vong warlord taking part in a one shot or the next between-nine-book-arc trilogy or something; but, as I said, I'd agree with Havac that more avenues are open if you approach it with a new character.

Or you could always take the Michael Bay approach, and introduce a villan out of thin air to exact 'revenge' against the protagonists. Even though nobody's ever heard of him before, and his introduction causes problems with the origin story in the first movie.

Hey, this sounds like what's going on with the prequel era...

Dear God... Michael Bay is a clone of George Lucas!

nom anor was like the cobra commander of Star Wars. I miss him. He was the last truely great villian of the Star Wars EU in my opinion. However I really don't want him to return. With Star Wars as stale as it is now, I just don't see him being used properly
