Nor are the depictions graphic, their just enough to let us know what's going on and give us a general idea of how folks look at a certain time.

Guys I really don't know how you can talk about this in the star wars books there is hardly any nudity and nothing graphic. there is like nothing bad about them maby two bad words a book and hardly any nudity and if there is they don't desribe it or anything I don't think you need to make a big deal about it.

No, that's not what I'm saying. The violence in the NJO has been graphic, yes. But violence in Star Wars EU has had graphic scenes before the NJO, the difference is that they occur more often in the NJO. But the nudity and sex in the NJO are not as graphic. The few times we actually see folks nude, how often are their genitalia actually described? Or when intercourse happens, do we actually see it? And if so, do the authors describe the details. These are what I was refering to when I said the depictions are enough to give us a general idea of what's going on. I'll assume from the winking face in your response that you got it, though.

If it serves the story to have a character naked, then so what?

As long as the author isn't describing the character in a lascivious manner, or going into detail about lewd sexual acts, what is the harm? If our society is becoming so prudish that a text reference to a character being naked is cause for controversy, then we have a real problem.

Just remember: you've got to be naked to breed, and if wasn't for breeding we wouldn't be here.

Nakedness is good.

Technically, you don't have to be naked to breed. You just have to have access to all the vitial parts needed for reproduction if you are reproducing the natural way. And depending what both are wearing, you may not even have to take off your clothes. Though doing so makes it easier and more enjoyable.

These are great.

They remind me of a lot of the cheezy pulp SF B-novels put out by Del Rey and other publishers in the 1960's and 1970's. SW owes as much a debt to that stuff as it does to the influences that Lucas talks about more often like Flash Gordon, and Joe Campbell's stuff.

Do your homework, do a little archaeology, dig into the archives... you'll find out why the Onslaught/Ruin covers are a great homage.

Lusa in the YJK was half-naked all the time I believe. And in I, Jedi, when they were in the underground river thing I think they were naked....

It was some sort of underground hot spring, actually. The scene also appeared in Dark Apprentice.

I think in that underground spring scene Luke and co. were wearing undergarments. Even if they weren't, I think the light level wasn't high enough to provide some of the students with a clear view.

I did pick up one issue of the Union comic series. There are a couple of pages that see Mara and Leia hanging out at the Spa with there friends, You don't actually see anything, but it is suggested, its the closet to nudity that I have seen/read about in any EU book/comic. Besides Jacen in the Chamber of pain was it? In Traitor

 

on the bacta tank issue didn't monmothma go in fully clothed when she had that disease in jedi academy?
