Book of boba Fett had a ton of pages and that show was the definition of mediocre. The correlation doesn’t match

Thought this was a really solid first episode that set the tone and situation with Kenobi well. Didn't expect the Leia story but love it and loved seeing Bail again. Expected to love this show right off the bat and it didn't disappoint.

I think this is just what Star Wars tv is going to look like from now on sadly. It feels like they spent significantly more on Mando season 1/2 than they did on Fett or Kenobi. The volume is much more noticeable now, even re-watching those early episodes of Mando for comparison. It's like they didn't spend the time to get the backgrounds rendered to a high quality, and as such the "seems" of where the volume starts and the soundstage begin are very noticeable.

Tattooine in episode 5 of Mando season 1 feels much better than what we've gotten lately for example.

I dunno about that. I remember there is a speeder bike shot in that episode that does look abit TV show. Maybe we are just getting over the amazement of what they can do on tv now.

I had a lot of big questions while watching part 1!
Would Uncle Own and his family die?!?! Would Obi-Wan come out of retirement and save Princess Leia and will Princess Leia be saved?!?! :p Also, will the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers show up?!?!!?

On a more serious note, I was really digging the show until they cut to the Leia story. That little girl isn't given a lot to work with so I can't knock her performance. Also I'm not going to rag on a child. I was mostly bummed about the fact that once again, (or for the first time?) Princess Leia is kidnapped and Obi-Wan is her only hope. Good lord.

I think the show looks fantastic, Mando season 1 also looked very "TV" compared to the Star Wars films.

This feels more like an event series. While Mando and Boba don't feel like that.

Great to see Ewan back. I really think he’s the best heroic character in the franchise. The groundwork has been set, and I’m off to watch the second episode now. So far so good.

    Short version? Loved it!

    (1) Ewan McGregor was just great. Not exactly a shock, but ...yeah.
    (2) I realize some feel otherwise, but wow did this "feel like Star Wars" to me.
    (3) Obi-Wan commuting and punching a time clock. Wow. Haven't we all been there. LOL
    (4) I realize this was just Episode 1, but it feels to me like they are hitting the right tone here, with Obi-Wan, something that had been a concern... he's obviously been impacted by the events of ROTS, but this doesn't (so far) come off as the "Crushed Obi-Wan mopes and whines" arc some feared.

The episode communicated what Kenobi had been doing for a long time, and will go back to after his mission is over. From that point of view I liked it. Now for the adventure.

Have to disagree on that. Mando, especially season 1, looked very cinematic. So did the Mando episodes of Book of Boba Fett. Obi-Wan looks considerably cheaper to me. I couldn't help but notice how plastic Obi-Wan's little cave looked.

I shared most of my thoughts and enthusiasm in the episode 2 thread because, well, wow but this was a great opening setup episode and think the decision to release both episodes was actually very wise.

Kenobi is already up there with Mandalorian and Rogue One for me as the best new canon live action entries and I say that as someone who enjoys the sequels more than most and who adores that other content! The best part? It’s only getting started!

When George made the wise decision to sell to Disney and bring someone like Kathy Kennedy in and have someone like Dave Filoni rise up this is the kind of content I dreamed we’d someday get! And here we are!

    Loved it.

Poor Ben. Dealing with trauma. PTSD. Feels like he blames himself for everything. And...I really liked how Ben has to answer the call to adventure. And just like Luke later on in ANH, is reluctant and dismissive, at first. That is until someone needs his help.

Was surprised by how much Leia was featured. I think the actor did a great job and totally sold it on being Young Leia. The only iffy part of the episode was the forest chase.

I loved the small mirroring when Obi was out eating his dinner in front of his "place", like Rey in TFA. I mean, I loved the whole episode, but I like how the creators are giving us these small reflective/mirrored details like in Mando and FETT series. Man, if SWs is gonna be meant for TV more, than epic movies, they are doing a great job at it. This series is looking fantastic. LOVED IT!!!!

You aren't wrong. In one scene she's cutting off hands of anyone who speaks against her but she just spares Flea from RHCP despite him botching the Leia trap. Too much dumb happening for me so far.

The forest chase seems to be one of episode 1’s main sticking points but I think it also shows the natural instincts Leia has as a force sensitive person who doesn’t yet know she’s force sensitive. Similarly, the scene where she reads her cousin perfectly also sets that up. The editing in the forest scene was perhaps a little clunky but her father raced aliens around rocky dunes at ridiculously high speeds as a child evading danger. Is it really so hard to imagine Leia being able to spot similar opportunities in a forest she knows sliding between gaps and under trees?

I think you replied to the wrong person, because I pointed out that the tonal differences are part of the Star Wars DNA. The same trilogy that has burping aliens, a nervous golden robot, smelly tauntauns, ewoks, and whatever the hell Jedi Rocks is supposed to be also has the hero's hand getting cut off, a planet being blown up, the big bad being the hero's father all along, and another hero being frozen in carbonite.

There's an element of that for sure i.e. the eye getting used to the technology to replicate the environments... but it's obvious the production values are not the same on a TV series as they are in a movie. Granted, I'd much rather have a good TV series than a bad film... but for me personally, I can't help wonder what this would have looked like just as an anthology big budget SW movie.

Good episode! Not perfect, but good.

Biggest positive for me was the acting all around, whereas the biggest negative was the inquisitors having vague motives, but hopefully that’ll get explained better in future episodes.

Also, minor nitpick, but that one cgi shot of the sand whale was super annoying.
