Are they really going to film on location in Tunisia? There were real life sandstorms affecting filming for ANH and TPM, and the political situation was constantly changing until recently.

Or will they film in some desert in the US?

Honestly, unless someone backstage were to tell him to say that, I doubt he'd remember the line. He didn't remember Maul's name in an interview a few years ago.

I wonder if they are going to make another title for when we get more and more post RoTJ but Pre-Resistance content. Age of the New Republic?

Hmm...I kinda assume maybe after EP 6 it's just Age of Resistance ???

I'm more interested if they go way forward or way back.

Old Republic just by process of....It's old...and there is a Republic....Hence Old Republic as it's own little brand within the larger brand like it was kinda in Legends.

I see them doing Old Republic era while also continuing to do stories between RoTJ and the ST to continue to cash in on popular film characters.

Though it wouldn’t make much sense to have stories set about Luke building his academy be set in “Age of Resistance” when the Resistance was only formed 6 years before TFA.

Just hope that Obi-Wan and Vader don't meet during this series.

If the setting is eight years after ROTS and Obi-Wan has sent Luke to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, I guess Ewan has to undergo some makeup to make him look older than the last time we saw him in Episode 3... And become closer in appearance to how the character was portrayed by Alec Guinness back in 1977... :p

But it’s a good thing that Disney managed to bring Ewan back for one more fling as the legendary Jedi Master Kenobi... That’s going to be yet another interesting SW series to check out when it is released - I presume by 2021 or thereabouts, since shooting only starts next year... =D=

Let me blow your mind for a moment. Star Wars was filmed in 1976, when Alec Guiness was 62. This show is going to film in 2020, when Ewan McGregor is 49. So Ewan is actually only five years younger than his character.

    Here's Alec at 49.

Keep in mind that Kenobi is slightly younger than Alec Guinness is in Star Wars: A New Hope - Kenobi was 25 in TPM, 38 in ROTS, and 57 in ANH. So Guinness was 5 years older than his character (though the timeline had not been laid down back then - this is retrospective).

8 years after ROTS, Kenobi would be 46. McGregor being 49 would also make him older than his character, just like Guinness - just not as much.

I love McGregor as Obi-Wan and I’ve been waiting for this for three years now. I was terrified that this would be another Star Wars: Underworld.

However, I hope they don’t have Ewan play 20 year old Obi-Wan. I’m not opposed to casting a younger actor as pre-ROTS Obi-Wan, but Ewan is still the right age to play the character at any time from 19 BBY onwards. Liam Neeson, on the other hand, could still play Qui-Gon as a Force ghost or at the age he was at his death, and maybe slightly younger given his appearance in MIB International.

The TV format is an asset when you consider that he probably won’t be traveling much off of Tatooine. Leave him to face bounty hunters, Tuskens, gangsters, plenty of antagonists without getting the Empire directly involved.

Also hope to see Joel Egerton and Bonnie Piesse, and maybe even a child actor as young Luke.

Just sprinkle a little of that CGI de-aging magic on Neeson.

I am so dissappointed by the Obi Wan reveal... I know I am alone there but it was a bad choice. More Kenobi is fine but post ROTS it's going to be all on Tatooine, and if they go offworld its even worse for he should not.

I mean, placing it 8 years after ROTS too is weird... that is within the Solo movie years covered and would make more sense to have a Maul or Solo or Quira show post Solo instead of Solo 2 and 3 movies. Now with Kenobi in that spot I fear no other show will ever be in the same timeline spot. Thus less chances for a Solo 2 to happen. :(

Lets hope the Kenobi stuff is just a couple episodes short series and gets no second season. Any prolonged absence from his duties is creating more trouble than its worth.

Other way it could be done, have 8 years after ROTS be only a framing with Kenobi pondering flashbacks to Clone War and training Anakin before or his youth with Qui Gon... that way we see his entire life and the more interesting stuff and not boring desert hiking.

Who will be Kenobis nemesis though? Maul is a no go, given he is busy with Crimson Dawn or even stuck on Malachor at some point. He might visit Tatooine but any such visit before Rebels is a nogo either. His final confrontation too is nothing the series can deal with, Rebels already did and is further down the timeline. So Kenobi needs a new nemesis. Jabba? Inquisitors?

And showing too much of young Luke would not be optimal either. He is supposed to be a farmbody... nothing special yet. Sure some canyon racing, maybge have him in one episode where he meets Ben. But no prolonged exposure except from being watched from afar. Kenobi also should not draw his lightsaber or reveal his Jedi self in the entire show given he is in hiding.. and he is not killing left and right to protect his identity either piling up bodies who saw him with said saber. So will he use only other Force powers that cannot be linked back to him all the time? Intriguing but difficult.

*sigh* I feel this show will fail or retcon what came before... at least I hope fore lots of Jabba and Hutt business, slave girls and underworld stuff.

Looks like those Tatooine sets from The Mandalorian might get some re-use! In any event, now we can say we have "confirmation." Very good news all the way around.

There was also that time he did a late-night talk show just after Ep. VII and was like "They combined my voice with Alec Guinness's to say 'Rey... these are your first steps'" and then a few months later he did another late-night talk show and they were like "What was the line you had in the new movie?" and he was like "I don't remember." I loved it.

    I like it.
You have to account for Ewan's age.
I like the idea of of a smaller tatooind bound show. Like a gritty western-type affair with tuskens, Jawas, and alike.

I think a great potential antagonist could be Cad Bane. His fate wasn’t resolved during the Clone Wars, and he certainly tangled with Obi-Wan numerous times throughout.

As a bounty hunter who already knows and despises Obi-Wan, he would be a major threat as someone with not only a grudge, but as someone who could deliver him to the Empire.

  24. Disney will not be able to control the emotion and we will see Maul vs Obi Wan in liveaction again
I am very sure that they would care less about the Rebels show
